hey guys, lately I've had quite an interest in special edition sunglasses, specifically gascans. I was wondering if I could get some help creating a list of all the signature series/artist series/limited edition gascans?

This is what I know of so far:
Ducati
Bob Burnquist
10th Mountain Division
London Police
C100
Chip Foose
Flying tiger (black/yellow and sand/blue)
David Flores (blue and brown)
Juan Pablo Montoya
Tron
Red Shift
Global

I'm just wondering whether or not I've forgotten to include any in my list?

hey stew, one suggestion is that you can go to the "Catalogue" section on this website, go to the Gascan list, and all those models with the asterisk beside the SKU/model number are more or less signature/limited/special edition models. there's quite a number actually. =) hope this helps.

p/s: maybe for a personal quest, you could see how many different Grab Bag models you could get? ha! that would be interesting.

Here's what I got by running a quick query on the database:

10th Mountain Division
Bob Burnquist
C100
Chip Foose
David Flores
Ducati (x2: Grey/Black)
Flying Tigers (x2: tan/blue)
Global
Grab Bag (x33)
JP Montoya (x2: 2008/2009 editions)
London Police
Sete Gibernau
SI (x4)
Soviet/Red Shift
Timo Pritzel
Tron Legacy
Troy Lee
White Hot (x2: White and Black w/Ruby)

Also of interest:
Oakley Text (rep handout)
Grape (part of the Stretchline release)
Clear/Fire, Black Iridium (N3L exclusive)
Brown Smoke, Grey/Black Polar, Black w/Camo Icon (SGH exclusive)

By the way, the N3L Clear Gascans are entirely badass. They are one of my favorites pairs, and I have been wearing them for the past few days just because. It's a bit of a misnomer that they're considered a "special" pair, as they're only carried my N3L. They're also available through OCP for the exact same price, plus shipping is free from Oakley. They were available through N3L for about 6 months before they hit OCP, though. They remind me of the Clear/Chrome Oil Rig that was a Sunglass Icon exclusive. Those were one of my first Grails after joining this brotherhood. Those went for $300+ on eBay, and one of the members hooked me up at cost for a pair. Now, Clear 1st gen Rigs are available for almost nothing through MPH, and you can buy a Chrome replacement lens through Oakley, and they'd still be cheaper than original cost. So, like the Oil Rig, the Clear Gascan was special in that it went to an obscure retailer before becoming mainstream. Much like the Jury. Definitely pick up a pair, you won't be sorry you did, but if I remember correctly, my pair did not even come with a box. That means there's no real drawback of going through OCP and no having a "legit" pair. So, they're awesome to own, but they're by no means "limited" in our sense of the word.

Furthermore, two of the SI pairs are downright boring. The two Icon pairs are awesome, but the Matte Black/Grey (Polarized) are the same as can be found elsewhere. If you get them through the SI program, they come in a box with the different SKU, but you wouldn't be able to tell otherwise.

However, the last SI Gascan I bought for a buddy came with the US Flag microbag, so there's that.

By the way, the prices for the SI Gascan in our database are incorrect, at least for the non-polarized version. They go for $55, while the Polarized are $75.

Lastly, the SGH Camo Icon Gascan is badass as well. They are polished black with black iridium, not grey lenses or polarized, as SGH website showed...

One more: The Dark Grey/Black Iridium Polarized SGH exclusive is one to look for. I've seen it only once. It's more gunmetal than grey. Looks awesome.

10 posts, all about gascans, without a signle disparaging remark about the gascan! Congrats to all and everyone - we are such a mature and self-respecting group.

It took me three years after their release to warm up to them. The only reason I got a pair in the first place was because, at the time, they were the only pair available from OCP in white with blue icons and ice iridium. School colors, and all. With that said, I really wish BYU would have a pair in the collegiate line...

That, and I ordered the Red Shift on a whim just because it matched my Jeep. The Soviet Gascan was the one that really made me say, "These aren't too bad."

Thanks for all the fast, helpful responses guys! I'm pretty excited to see how many different special edition models of gascan there are. Not that I can afford most of them...

p/s: maybe for a personal quest, you could see how many different Grab Bag models you could get? ha! that would be interesting.
That's definitely an interesting idea, I think I'm going to have to try that. I'll have to look into the availability of the grab bag models.

On that note, If anyone has any grab bag (or any other special edition) models that they're trying to sell feel free to hit me up with a PM ;)

Surprisingly, there only seems to be a couple of grab bag gascans on ebay right now. None of which really catch my eye as really being interesting enough to kick off a new quest.

I'll definitely keep an eye out for new auctions though.

There's only a couple that I like: The barcode and the music score, GB9 and GB12. I've been looking for one of the music ones for literally years at this point.

Yeah, the more I look at the grab bag models, the more I'm finding that I think they're cool, but not really worth spending so much money on...

That was the original intent. To provide a bonus at the same price point if you bought a black or white pair.

Many years bk, while at Disney World in Florida, I purchasd a pair of black gascans with ice lenses and blue icons. I do not brlieve it was a custom pair, but a premade colorway. I cant find it in the db. Anyone know the part number?

Ya, I saw that one, but the DB doesn't show it as having blue icons:

The one I bought had blue icons...I've since sold it :( and wish I hadn't! I can always get one custom, though!
