Hello.

So i have decided that i will buy my first pair of oakleys sunglasses. I already decided that i want and oakley jupiter squared model. What do you guys think of this model ?

I cant decide between jupiter square jade iridium and jupiter squared woodgrain tungsten iridum. Which type of lens do you like better? Which one has more relaxing feeling to the eye?

What about the eyes? Can people see your eyes through this lenses ? Some guy on youtube said that people can see your eyes more with tungsten lenses. Is that true ?

Any advice would be much appriciated!

Ty in advance!

Congrats on your decision to get your first pair of Oakleys! You won't regret it. The Jupiter Squared is a popular model and practically a universal good fit due to its lower base curve. It also has distinctive design cues that set it apart from all the other pairs in the industry with similar styling. It is extremely comfortable as well for most wearers.

Personally, I would choose the Woodgrain with Tungsten iridium to wear. I think Tungsten is easier on the eyes to look through, but that's just personally preference. I also like the frame colour a lot more. That said, Jade is an in-your-face lens will get you noticed, whereas the Woodgrain/Tungsten pair is more muted. If loud colours are your preference, Jade's the way to go; if practicality and flexibility are your preference, Tungsten is the way to go.

Yes, I would say in general it is easier to see your eyes with Tungsten vs. Jade.

Congrats again on the decision.

I also want to say congrats on your decision and agree with Oak's recommendation. Since this is your first pair of Oakley's, i'd like to add - why not try both? It is Oakley after all and we have all had our "gateway" frame that pulled us in at one time or another and here we are, collectors!

I think whichever one you eventually choose you might like it so much that you decide to get both, maybe even more as time goes on. And since the lenses are Oakley's true discriminating product, you can get multiple lens kits and find the ones you like best.

In fact, you might be interested in getting a second "daily" pair either in black or white that would compliment any lens kit you put in. That way you can try out a number of lenses without style clashing (within budget of course - LOL!)

Tailhook vs Tailpin

GRAY POLARIZED
PRIZM DAILY POLARIZED
TITANIUM IRIDIUM POLARIZED

Hi,

I’m looking at buying my first pair of oakley’s and I really like the new wire frame style that seem to be pretty new. The colours on the website look very “cartoon-like” and I’m curious as to how they translate in real life. I’m having a hard time deciding between the Tailpin and the Tailhook style. Also I don’t like “flashy” glasses so I am leaning towards the grey polarized and the prizm daily. What are your opinions on how the lens style/colours look? Also do they come with a hard case?

Thanks!

Tailhook vs. Tailpin really is a matter of preference and the shape of your head/face, IMO. They pretty much fit the same for me in terms of comfort. Hard to tell which one is better without seeing it on you, but I personally gravitate towards the Caravan-style (squarish aviators) over the traditional aviators nowadays, so the Tailhook is the one for me. Many others would float the other way.

Some people have higher tolerances for loud colours, but those who don't will find something like the Jade Tailpin to be very strange, indeed very cartoonish. If you can tolerate a mirrored lens, I would recommend the Titanium Iridium Tailhook. The Daily Polarized version is really nice as well.

If you don't like flash lenses, the Prizm Daily Polarized is looking like a very good general use option at the moment. It isn't loud, and the color contrast is subtle enough to not be a huge change, but still functional.
