Thursday, February 21, 2019 — Oakley® today announce a second season in partnership with Samuel Ross, designer and creative director behind *A COLD WALL.
Oakley by Samuel Ross Season 2 is focused the utility of garments within an outdoor narrative. The thirty-piece collection epitomizes the foundation of the Oakley by Samuel Ross project, evolving the breadth of the relationship between these two creative forces as Ross dives deeper into Oakley’s design and innovation heritage.
Unique material combinations and innovative production techniques are blended with abstract elements to convey a dynamic and ultra-futuristic story, as seen in Ross’ take on two iconic Oakley eyewear frames – the Gascan and M2 Frame – in transparent muted colors.
Ross has continued to explore outdoor intelligence by using water and wind repellent fabrics, welded seams and a packable backpack for functional experiences, while an abstract expressionist graphic treatment inspired by drip painting is seen throughout the designs.
Richer tones populate this season’s collections with expressive, diverse and impressionable landscapes. Chalk white glacier montages and abstracted woodland prints gel together, defining an innate sense of purposefulness and experimentation, as natural colors including lucid ochre yellow and frost blue support an essential palette of black, slate and brown, imploring the notion of a modern outdoors protagonist.
To utilize each garments’ potential, layers of innovation have been implemented through various forms of color theory, material story and experimental shape on Italian nylons – providing effortless functionality and allowing for individual interpretations of the collection.
