I'd be happy with an EVZero 0.3 style. - Dann

You know, I was thinking the same thing, as I have an EVZero with a lens that's starting to fail. Somebody like Wavecloud in England would undoubtedly be able to make it from a Prizm Snow Black goggle lens.

Not quite sure if it would be retrocool or blasphemy though. :-D

Cheers, Lars.

A few years back "somebody" did a few lens cut with the 0.3 shape and offered some.
Pretty cool, but not original-from-the-factory cool

Are we guessing that $10k of each will be going towards that $140,000 foundation donation. Leaves Oakley with $4k for the trouble, which is 33% more than the Gold OTT for two X-Metals. Still not interested, but if it's a charity thing, then I could see it in a different light. - Dann

That was my thought when I saw the numbers. If my mental math switch is toggled on, that's the only way to read that. I wonder how many of the 14 pairs are handouts like the ones Lillard was wearing. He wears number zero, so perhaps 20 years from now we'll see serial number zero through 13.... or through 14.

They chose their words carefully. As collectors, we tend to assume the number “made” is the same as the number “for sale” or “available for purchase”. In this case there are 14 available for sale but there are probably several more made for internal use or given to partners (e.g. Lillard and co.).

Let the games begin:

https://www.oakley.com/en-us/collections/muzm-series

The photoshopped pics don’t have “Made In USA” on the Romeo, so let’s see if the actual product has it. If not, I guess it was 3D printed in Italy (if it was indeed mostly 3D printed).

The mirrored pic of the Romeo showing the PRIZM P "reversed".
That's a serious minimum effort here. Damn!

If the glammed pics are accurate, I see a new type of nose bomb for the Romeo. Interesting.

Yep, and that's an easy fix in Photoshop.

Unlike any other eyewear production in the world, the originals were cast from titanium at temperatures of up to 3,600℉. This reissue combines new techniques and technologies, such as 3D-printing with a specialized titanium powder and Prizm

And there seems to be an etching on the arm as a tribute to MJ (or it may be the serial number, not sure):

So as I read through the marketing and the fact that it was manufactured using 3D printing, I guess these were printed out of the Agordo factory? Anyone know or can confirm?

There could be a general release sometime in the future if that's the case. Let us see how much it will retail for.

Were they ever released as part of the consumer version? I know it was an early version of the nose bomb, but were they on the regular release sold to the public (I didn’t figure they were which is why I called them a new type)? In Canada back when the Romeo was released in 1997, they had the nose bomb as we know it today. But back then there was always a distribution delay up north, so we didn’t get the first wave of releases (or even 2nd or 3rd wave).

1875: I think we all thought this was a typo that was meant to be 1975, a damn good year. As more marketing material came out, it was clear it’s intentional. Then the theory moved onto the introduction year of the Romeo y Julieta cigars, which was 1875. Anyone have a firm Oakley official answer?

Oak Maybe something to do with the periodic table. 3D printed titanium. They do call it "1875 X-Metal"

4130 Chromoly (Reynolds 525 and 725)
Aluminum (6061 and 7005)

From my super limited knowledge of 3D printing... literally the last 20 minutes. Both Argon and Rhenium are used in the process. That's my theory anyways. The other theory would be related to the score clock they teased in the Instagram stories correlation somehow with the Bulls Season the year or game that X-Metal first appeared.

I hope they are planning to release a “General Population” version of these, for us working class folks...

It seems like a waste to spend 2 Years Developing these, 400 + Designs, to only make ~15 of each? Yes/No?

I’ve been fairly vocal today on Facebook on how ridiculous I think the $14K price tag is. I think Oakley crossed a line in the sand on this one.

This will be a good question to ask Evan in the soon to be announced live interview via Oakley Expertise FB group.

I think the 400+ designs related to the original Romeo design, not the ones we got yesterday. They mixed in classic X-Metal info alongside the press release
