Any other car guys into the Barrett Jackson? I block this week out every year to watch. I hope to someday attend. These guys are crazy like us only on a much bigger scale.

Started tonight a 6 on SPEED!

Glad I'm not the only one. Almost 3M on the first day - amazing!

Do you play the Hagerty fantasy bid?

Ron Pratte ruins it for me, but I love the show. What some people don't know is there are some great deals on the first few days. My PVR is getting a work out!

some awesome buys on the first day or 2, but man, I was surprised at some of the junk that people tried to call collectible...Looks like GM is cleaning out the storage locker of old prototypes and mule cars...Will be cool to see how the Mopar stuff does

Yeah, they said GM is parting with 200 vehicles as part of their "Heritage Collection". Sounds like a liquidation sale to me. I love those cars that confuse and confound. I saw a '92 Saturn with 54 miles go for $11. The $300k Hemi 'Cudas are cool and all, but I love the ones that make you shake your head. And, Ron Pratte is usually nowhere to be seen on them because he just wants the "big shot" vehicles.

OMG! These factory-one off Chevy's are driving me crazy. A '94 Impala SS with a 6-speed? A '89 Vette with a 454 (dubbed the ZR2). Are you kidding me? It reminds me of the factory one off's we used to see Total O churning out. This Heritage Collection is amazing. Too bad many of them can't be legally titled.

Just wait - there is an immense amount of crap too although they may not televise it - like an original Geo...

That crap they are spewing about the fact that GM doing this has nothing to do with their current financial state is bullsh!t... They are trying to generate money any way they can.

Not a geo fan Nik? LOL Did you see that modified yellow H2? I would think that would be right up your alley.

Marcel, the commentators did mention that 6-speed version of the SS was a "mule" vehicle that got a lot of press at the time. I liked the twin-turbo Firebird that concluded the first day's coverage.

If my Brother could have sold his 1968 SHELBY GT500KR i wonder what he could of got for it, it was original never been touched 40,000 miles still even had a large number of production markings and tags still on it.

He sold it for $100,000 outside of ebay (2nd Chance offer) after buying it for $40,000.
But i feel if it went to Barrett-Jackson the quality of the one he had could have pulled way more.

Seems as if the economic downturn hasn't hit the BJ buyers. But then again, can't invest in the market, or your home at this point safely.

This may be the last place to safely invest - especially with the incredibly boring and lackluster Detroit Auto Show that just transpired.

The move to electric and alternative fuel cars is only gonna drive the value of these things thru the roof.

LOL - not a huge Geo fan but they have a mid 90's Chevy truck modeled off of a Tonka they built for SEMA that I'd love to bid on. I hope they show it on the block.

Love watching this stuff!

Ron Pratte drives me nuts. If he were building a museum I would be all for him buying everything up, but he's not. He's a (very) private collector. All the beautiful cars he's been buying for years now, a lot of rolling history, will just sit in some warehouse(s) somewhere. It's a shame to think that so many cars could actually be enjoyed by so many people. But no, some really rich guy has to buy so many he will probably never see some of them again after hording them away. I just don't get it. He must just be an addict like us with WAY too much money. Even then, if I had that kind of money and the craziest oakley collection ever assembled, and there were enough people who wanted to see it, I would want to share it with the world. It's way more fun that way.

Love watching Barrett-Jackson every time it's on. My eyes are dry from watching all 10 hours of live tv over the past 2 days. I attended the Palm Beach event a couple years ago as well. Amy is just as nice to talk to in person as she seems on the show. And way cute.

I'm assuming Amy is the bidding assistant?

I agree that Ron Pratte is a hoarder and I know he has done a big part in overinflated the values of cars with his aggressive bidding. He's been selling off a few cars for 1/2 what he paid in the past apparently.

I wouldn't be able to watch this event without the assistance of my PVR. I can't believe how many commercials they pack into the coverage.

Mike, the KR's are one of the hottest collectibles at the moment. I've seen them go as high as $300K (to Ron Pratte!)

That Amy is funny. I couldn't believe she was married to "Spanky"...Just not a couple I imagined out there. Pratte scoops up large numbers of sweet cars, but he has the cashola, so more power to him...GM is scraping up all the rare stuff to generate much cash for certain. I wouldn't be surprised to see some more Harley Earl one off concept cars too. Should be cool to see.

I bet your brothers KR would have brought well over 100k on BJ. They have done some serious money in the past...Was it a right hand drive? Did they ever produce right hand models for other countries? I don't recall ever seeing one on Jackson shows...

Or, he has his bank's cashola. Either way he irks me. I heard the recession is hitting him hard so it should be interesting to see how many cars he scoops up this time 'round.

I think Mike's bro lives in Minnesota.

Ah, left hand drive then...I would like to see a nice rare piece like a KR, or a Camaro RS/SS in right hand drive...Would be a rare car I would imagine. I wanted to go to Scottsdale last year and this year but I just haven't been able to...Maybe Vegas, that would be more fun I think, although it is not really Barrett-Jackson unless it's under the big top!!

No Mustangs i understand were ever made Right Hand Drive though, many have been converted down here. It has been said there are as many 60's and 70 's mustangs hare as in the states these days. People have been importing good stock in large numbers for years.

I had a 1969 Convertible with a 4v 351.. awesome ride, drove it left hand drive for 1 yr before spending around $8000au to convert to right hand drive, it was a massive improvement in handling and driving dynamics. Note which side of the road i was on didn't matter, the car just felt better to drive.
