While the Frogskins, various artist series, etc. certainly do have their place in this community, I'm still a die-hard sports-specific Oakley guy. As in, Radars, Flak Jackets, Jawbones, etc. I know that some of you would wear anything in your collection at any time, yet there are still plenty who lock the majority of their collection inside their towers for display only. I wear everything I have, and I'm constantly looking for inspiration in creating new pairs, so let's see what you've got. If you'd rather just engage in some sort of discussion on sports-specific pairs, that would work too.

Your one-stop-shop for all the sports-specific models if you will. :)

Custom Chopped by the good Doctor. Used specifically for Shooting.

Also used for shooting, but also for playing/Coaching volleyball at night (lit court) or in gyms were the light isn't so good. I've worn them indoor go-kart racing as well.

I used FLak Jackets for Mtn Biking, Hiking, and Rock Climbing so these seem to be my "go to" pair for any sort of physical activity. That will be switching over to the Split Jackets this year (Since I like wearing Splits more).

My top sport pairs:

The New SJ II is just an amazing pair that fits well and never seems to move on my face. They have passed the "wear on a roller coaster" test time and time again. Not only does it perform well, it looks wonderful and can be worn in a more casual setting. I would suppose that it is one of the most under-appreciated styles of the past few years.

Next is the Jawbone:

More hard core than the NSJ2, it fits the bill when I don't care if people give me weird looks while wearing it. If I'm uncertain about conditions, I always grab the JB.

SI Ballistic M-Frame 2.0:

The absolute most worry-free pair that I own. I can throw these around, and never be bothered about them getting damaged. They're made to be absolutely bomb-proof. There are no other Oakley sunglasses specifically built to stop shotgun blasts and flying shrapnel. The all technically can, but these were both purpose-built and tested to do so. It's nice that there is an optional strap, should you need it. Radars are technically a better pair, due to fit, hydrophobic coating, and such, but in my mind, the basic version gets the job done with its wonderfully simplistic nature. The lens clip holds the Ballistic lens in the frame more strongly than the original M-Frame or Radar nosepiece ever could. Furthermore, should I scratch a lens, they cost only $20 to replace.

Finally, the absolute king of purpose-built, sport-specific Oakleys, the Water Jacket:

All the functionality of a Racing Jacket, with the added bonus of hydrophobic lenses, venting, an all-around performance-based lens, and a strap so they never get lost. I've worn these snowboarding, biking, jeeping, etc. I actually haven't worn them on the water yet. It's a shame, really. They just don't get any better than this.

The Radars were my first Oakley sunglasses, which I got to wrap around and over my Rx Chain 4.0s. In more recent months, I've switched to Frogskins that hand quite well over the Chains. Occasionally, I've gone jogging outdoors in my White Radars w/Polarized + Red. But for coverage, the Radar XL Blades are something else. I like the fit on the XL Blades a bit better with my white + blue iridium pair.

I have and use a few pairs of sport frames for dedicated purposes.

First off, the newest iteration of the Straight Jacket, polished black with non-polarized Black Iridium lenses for when I'm on my motorcycle (I have to have non-polarized since the speedo is digital). It's one of the only frames that can A)fit my fat head, and B)fit under my helmet comfortably.

Second, the Split Jacket. I have a couple pairs of them, and the fit is close to the newest SJ with better lens coverage. Frame color options are great, but I'll be doing my own custom painted combo soon...

And third, I actually have two Radars for at the range, one with a standard Yellow lens for indoor ranges and an XL Blades G30 for outdoor ranges. I even have custom cut com n my gun case to accommodate the frames!

I guess since I requested it I can "tell my story". I've been an off and on collector for a lot of years now, but the models I continuously come back to are the M-frames, Half and Flak Jackets, and now the Radars and Jawbones.

I'm a cyclist/triathlete/anything endurance oriented and rotate between the previous mentioned models as the mood suits me. I'm also EXTREMELY photosensitive meaning I wear glasses anytime I'm outside, regardless of conditions. I have found the Flak jackets lately to suit me in nearly all scenarios. I have "flashier" pairs for sports, more subdued pairs for casual wear, and even a couple that work just fine in a suit. The Radars are my go-to right now on the bike and I have multiple color combos simply based on what I¡¦m wearing (although my current fav is the smoke frame, white accents with Jade iridium lens¡Kmy race team colors are black and green and this combo works well). I do still pull out the few pairs of Jawbones I have on occasion, but I tend to gravitate back to the Radars simply due to the more subdued look and the amount of peripheral vision they provide.

I have multiple ¡§non-sport¡¨ pairs in my collection, but to be honest, they really almost never come out of my mini tower. I guess that¡¦s why they make so many different color combos. ƒº
