Yeah.. I'm sure he didn't mean to do that. He's excited about the lens and I would be too!

Oh btw... Speaking of rubies, my desperation for a pair has brought forth this crazy idea... simple... and cheap.

I'm thinking I will need either Black iridium lenses for the Juliet or a custom clear juliet lens. Then I'm just gonna soak these lenses in concentrated red food dye/colouring overnight. And tomorrow I will have my home-made ruby lenses!

I know I sound kinda stupid... possibly noob-ish too.

Never did get to it. My final exams are coming up and after that I'll do it. I've got everything ready. I've got some cheap fake-oakley lenses from a long time ago (back when i was a kid) and I'm gonna use those lenses to experiment on. Also I've got a scratched-up-so-it's-useless pair of +red lenses for an eye jecket which I am going to use too.

I am just thinking of what is the best method to soak the lenses and how to take it out avoiding any smears, or parts that are too concentrated. How to get the colour even...

Sorry guys... really sorry...

use RIT dye or a fabric dye and heat it a bit. That is how we used to dye plastics back in the day for R/C cars

Yeah, we also heat the dye when we tint Rx lenses, but we only immerse it for 15-30 minutes. Less for CR-39, longer for polycarbonates.

What? only 15-30minutes? I was gonna let them soak overnight LOL!!! For that dark red lenses =P I'll look up RIT dye on google or something. Cos I have no idea what that is.

Here are the lenses that I'm gonna try it on. I cannot find those fake-oakley lenses so I will use my scratched +red lenses, my snapped black zeroes and my sister's tinted fake glasses =P

One way to immortalize something is via pictures.. so here's mine before I start. +red lenses are one of the best looking ones and I am soo regretful that I trashed this one at the beach.. I was swimming around with this in my pocket and when sand got in.. it's a sad story =(

I just received some +red cuts today and thought they are worth sharing, Tom made some awesome pics of them:

The ducati fives is now complete, but the +red twitch lenses are waiting for a grape frame to arrive.

RIT dye is a fabric dye you can get in powder or liquid form. I would say the liquid is better from past experiences in dying rc car parts that were nylon and various forms of plastic.

Thanks everyone!
I've not received the grape Twitch yet, but when I've and put it together I'll show you.

Btw, the Ducati Fives looks so nice with +red, when I compare it to the Scelzi one the Rubys look so cheap in that polished Frame:

Lol, I really felt in love with the +Red and that's your fault Josh...

Bill, do you have a pic of the grape Twitch with the fire lenses? Sounds like a nice combination!

aaaahhhhh yes, another one converted to positivism, my new found religion HAHA....Pastor Chop has come to bring this congregation to order...Let us rejoice brothers and sisters, for the Mad Scientists at Oakley (aka Heaven) have brought to us a beautiful creation, and in that my brothers, it is Positive Red....Praise Oakley! Can I get an Amen!!! HAHAHA...Had to do it...It's sunday ya know, and those tv preachers are on in full swing

that is a beautiful example of + Red in it's purity. I love that pair Julien, too bad I can't wear them...Need your Icons colored to match now.

Yes, I mean, Amen! +Red all the way. I hope Oakley does it for more frames and go polarized with it.

Amen!

I agree David, more Models and a pol. version would be awesome. Or the mirror on other bases (g30 +red iridium, bronze +red iridium f.e.).

About the icons - I think the standard red icons on the ducati work well! But the twitch will need some customizing, I thought of a white or black "oakley" on the grape frame.

And can't get Bills Montefrio off my mind, it looks so awesome. And these pics he posted there came made an alter idea come to my mind, a polished black Montefrio with red and blue splatters and a +red... but I think I don't have the skills to do that.
The rev is evolving from a usual place for ruby-freaks to a kinda Tool-Time-Forum. Har Har Har, more Power!

Thanks, these sunnies and how you photographed them is awesome! My favorites are the Pink MD and the wiretrap. Btw - I've not seen a single person wearing a wiretrap and looking good wearing them, but nonetheless the frame shape and especially this combo looks soo awesome. But I've also some more customs on my to-do list...
