I have a beat on a pair of Flaks (my VERY heavy wearer right now) and they come with light gray polarized lenses. At 35% transmission, I'm a little concerned that these may be rough in bright sunshine...will the polarization make up for that (and keep me from squinting like a half blind sailor)? I have a ton of lenses for my various Flak jackets, but this would be the first polarized...just want to make sure this isn't going to end up being a "once in a great while" lens.

I obviously could seek out a darker polarized lens, but this particular combo can be had for a good price...and I tend to like a more "muted" lens that I can wear with anything. Just want to make sure I can actually wear it in the sunshine.

Anyone wearing it currently that can provide some feedback?

Keep in mind that the Polarized effect in the glasses are "best used" for refections from shiny surfaces (like concreet/pavement, water etc.).

If you have your concerns about the rate of transmission Light Grey Pol. is on 35% just change to another. The protection index of the lens is on a UV index of 2. In changeing conditions (eg. sunny and clouds keep getting in the way of the sun) the lens is one of the best.

Personally I would take a Iridium coated lens. Iridium removes roughly 10% of the sunlight, and are great for Very sunny weater. Amber Pol. or Amber Blk. Irid. Pol. could be another good type instead of the Light Grey one.

Hope you could use some of the info.

People are welcome to correct me if Im wrong.

I vote for Amber Black Iridium Polarized. Love that lens.

I would say you would only find that lens useful/comfortable on cloudy days. I'd be you would find it's not the best for bright sunny days. Not that it's a bad thing - it's great to have a variety of lens options for all conditions. Just don't expect it to be a sunny day wearer.

I would generally agree, depending on your own light sensitivity. I prefer a much darker lens as well, however my wife does not like a dark lens at all. When we are on the water she wears light grey polarized when I wear black iridium polarized. I like light grey polarized in rainy weather just for cutting glare as it doesn't seen to darken my world much.
