I wonder why the Oakley prices are so much higher than the price of the Haven pair.. - MicahS

The U.S. has tariffs. Haven is in Canada. If you're buying from Haven in Canada and shipping to the U.S. you're cost will go up. Only way you're getting the Haven price is if you live in Canada and are keeping them in Canada. That's the reason I think. Also when you pay tariffs and import fees when you've bought from another country and it's coming into the U.S. - your "fees" are based on the country it was produced in. So you are going to pay higher fees on these since they were made in China - if I remember correctly that's where these are made because of the Ti - rather than if these were made in Canada. - yelkao

Thats whats strange though. I didnt pay any extra. Even when the invoice came to FedEx I expected import fees but it was for $0... - MicahS

That is weird. I bought something recently off of ebay. A $35 item that I got new (new old stock) for $15 with free shipping. After I paid I remebered about the tariffs, etc. It was coming from Canada. I googled tariffs, import fees and read some things under $800 may be deferred. PLus, I thought $15 coming from Canada the fees can't be that much if there are any. I didn't want to back out on the item after I paid. 3-4 days later I get an email and a text saying fees and duties are $30. SO I paid $45 for a $35 retail item that I was uspposed to get for $15 with free shipping. I asked around and googled it more and found out tariffs, fees, duties are based on the product's origin 0 where it was made - not the country it was shipping from. Si I'd say you got off wasy. LOL But a lot of things I've been looking at are costing more - not all, but a few places are making notes "tariffs included" or "tariffs not included in price." Either way it seems like were paying more.

It seems hard to tell with Oakley. We're so used to them raising prices at random times that it's tough to know if the current high prices of new releases, etc are a result of tariffs or not. Didn't they raise prices a little while back across the board and then maybe 6 months later raised prices across the board again? So the high price of Tailend Ti could be tariffs or not. Who knows?

I've been a Nike fan since I was in third or fourth grade - so along with Oakley - I'm pretty loyal - it's tough to tell with Nike as well. A lot of their shoes seem to be business as usual. But their higher end apparel seem to cost more even for being top tier. The low end and mid-range seem the same. The only difference I've noticed is the expensive apparel seems more expensive. Nike releasing some higher priced items because of tariffs, cost of materials or inflation? Again, who knows?

Great colorway. Love these frames and looking to get more of them soon.

Cool! I agree - I love them and I don't even have a pair yet. I think it's my favorite frame so far.

It's just a waiting game.
All that stuff will be half price in 6 months (and will still be outrageously expensive). Nobody's probably buying at full price. - BiGCoB

True. It's the best thing to do to save some cash. Unfortunately though in North America stuff like this seems more difficult to find other places rather than oakley.com. In my experience though if you do find it the sizes are limited and you have to order it online from a store overseas somewhere. Which is hit or miss with the shipping fees. Right now the tariffs are killing that. I bought something off of ebay recently. It was $15. I forgot all about the tariffs. After I committed to buy it I remembered and tried to find out how much the tariff would be on my $15 item. I didn't get any solid/specific info. Maybe I didn't try hard enough to find out. I kept thinking how bad could it be? I got a message from UPS saying the "import" fee was $30. I friggin paid $50 for a $15 item. The item retailed for $30 but I got it for $15 ($20 with the seller's shipping fee) - so I paid the seller's shipping fee and import fees. So much for trying to save a few bucks. The bright side is it wasn't easy to find - so at least I was able to track one down and purchase it.

I picked up the ghost and the amethyst pair - MicahS

Let me know what you think of them. I’m looking at those two plus the Amber. But definitely interested in the Ghost pair. Been thinking about getting a Ghost frame ever since it was released for the Business and Pleasure pairs. Just haven’t since I already have one of those in matte black. They’re not the same frame but they’re close enough I don't feel I need both a Business and a Pleasure. But since Ghost is an option for the 5.2 I’m thinking it’s time to grab a Ghost. Just wish the lenses were a different color. Might have to get some Blaze or Amethyst lenses. - yelkao

I'm a big fan of the matte ghost frames. My ghost business is my go to daily - MicahS

Good to know! I think my Ghost Business, Pleasure or 5.2 (if I had any of them) would be my M-Experiment goto pair as well.

I'm surprised that OAKLEY isn't the brand releasing the in lens display. That seems more like OAKLEY than RayBan to me. But a friend of mine said, it's because that form factor is most accepted by the target audience who would use and afford that tech. I see what he's saying - more people who have money buy RayBan other than OAKLEY. The in lens display RayBan's cost $799. I guess that would put an OAKLEY version easily up to $1k because of the shield lens, high end optics, PRIZM, etc. But wouldn't athletes love to have in the lens display? The Air Wave I was told sold well and even sold out. Not sure why they didn't move forward with it. If Air Wave did that well I think that's a bit of proof that OAKLEY fans and athletes find value in the heads-up display.

I guess they feel the price would be a bit prohibitive. Although I would argue that the pricing for some MUZM releases and even the recent Plantaris Ti would say OAKLEY fans spend that kinda money. Actually $1k - if that's what an OAKLEY version would cost - is a bargain compared to those OAKLEY MUZM releases and the Plantaris Ti. I suppose since those were limited it's different than mass producing/having a regular release of a model at $1k or more. Again, that's my guesstimate. I've heard nothing and know nothing about an in lens OAKLEY Vanguard releasing. I'm just thinking out-loud. Heck, I still haven't read or watched much on the Vanguard yet. So maybe I shouldn't be saying anything yet. LOL

Yeah, I hear ya. I'd buy that Bomber and Shell Pants if they were reasonable. I'd buy the Tee right now if it was $75. It's definitely got some high quality materials and cool design/features. But $145 for a "Tee?" Maybe it should be called a Tech Tee or "Shirt." Not that it would make the $145 easier to stomach but it's not really a Tee imo.
