Here's why you only wear M Frames or Half Jackets when cycling.

It certainly has slowed down. I used to post alot more during Rick's era. Tick's real funny too. We all had alot of fun then. It could also be that many of us are caught up at work now and the closure of new registrations.

To be honest, I am not suitably impressed by all of Oakley's recent products. We have never seen a real breakthrough in design that would rival the Juliet and most new offerings are just variants of the same stuff in BTO formats. A small minority of collectors have also seen BTO as a betrayal and if you've noticed, some paid top $$ for ruby juliets only to see down the road they could get the same item for lesser the BTO way. BTO also made the possibility of almost "replicating" limited editions much easier. I think interest in the forums will pick up when newer eye-catching products hit the markets. We need more X metals with unique serials and better packaging at that.

I can't really say the new O website is better, it's just different to me. Perhaps I dissapointed that there is no new X metal addition which they promised in Spring 07.

I've been good too, Tick... and unlike Santa, I haven't been partying all the time in Amsterdam. Then again, Santa's a bachelor, ain't he?

Would it be a problem carrying this on the plane with so many metallic parts attached to the bag?

I am skeptical about repairing of scratched lenses. Basically, if you do not strip the coat and instead jump straight to re-mirror the lens, the scratches will just show up in a more nasty way. Also that is assuming the scratches only affect the mirror coat and not the base lens.

Contraceptives. There are way too many people in O-Review looking for a screw.

Big DiaM, your chances are not good with these. They are one of the most widely produced fakes around (Country of Origin: China). And as I recall, the RX vault should've been a metallic one.

I won't bother with these and suggest that you don't either.

I should have made it clearer. The reason I like spring hinges is so that it facilitates the removal and wearing of glasses. They also help to protect the flex couplers from becoming overly loose over time.

They are not to be worn such that the spring hinges are in a constantly expanded/ stretched state where I've seen some people with large heads put on. If this happens, obviously it's because the Penny is too small. If spring hinges were flexed such that their main purpose was to accomodate larger cranials even after it has been put on, then I will rather they do not have this feature in the first place.

I think that could be the reason why people would think/ misunderstand that spring hinges were bad especially when they compare the penny and juliet and prefer the latter.

It will be very boring indeed if the new x metal is basically a design from today's catalogue made with X metal material.

We need new designs... and obviously without any design flaws or QC failures. I do like the idea of spring hinges to accomodate bigger heads.

I don't think it is a wise idea to wear any tinted Oakley lenses whatever the color or transmission level may be at night.

Since it's for eye protection, you don't really need any lenses other than clear antifog goggles. If optics is your main concern then what you need is really good AR on clear lenses of either polycarbonate or trivex which also has the saftey aspect covered..

Actually, just get a better helmet.

I don't know if it's a heavily guarded secret as to when new Oakley frames would be released.

To prevent the O from taking whatever $$$ in my wallet on a consistent basis and also to keep my Mrs happy by taming my O desire, I've worked out quite reluctantly a plan with my wife that the only time I get to buy Oakleys is once a year during the Xmas season for a maximum of 2 pairs.

I'm looking for the new Half Jackets 2.0 or any new X Metals that catches my interest. Would they be released in time?? I seriously envy those who can splash out on new glasses all the time. Well, that's marriage to me: A Compromise.

Sorry for being lazy. The VD I was refering to was vertex distance. I was told some sports shade are place much closer to the eye to prevent any backside reflection but I do not know if it might affect the optical centre. Opthalmic glasses seem to be about 12mm from the eye to the lens.

The laser test is easily replicated even with cheap plastic.

A question for Edwin. To get a more accurate optical centre, do you or does Oakley RX dept measure the monocular PD or do you assume symmetry and just use the binocular PD. Also, what's the recommended VD for sports wrap sunglasses, would they be nearer to the eye than the average 12mm?

I checked the X metal section and everyday like clockwork, the backorder is pushed back. I like to buy only when it states that they'll ship in 24 hrs. The chance for screwups will be infinitely reduced.

Yes, like I said before, regardless new or old rubies, they all look pretty damn nice. These pics should really show people its beauty. Sadly, some people just can't be converted ever sigh!

It's been known that the X metals "moulds" to fit you with use. This is what makes them comfortable and unique for different wearers..

I'd instead be rather worried if the new frames were NOT tight. They will loosen naturally over time and fit better. Unless it is a very rigid pair that requires some effort to flex, i think you should be pretty safe. I am guessing your older pair was also much tighter back then.

I think the seller is really honest. Alot of ebayers go out of the way to capture rubies in the "optimal lighting position" just to sell them at a higher price.

I think we should really be glad and count our blessings that Oakley did after all re-release the Ruby Juliets. It is still a very nice color from the outside and identical to the earlier version when looking through. Like no two piece of leather is similar, one should take comfort knowing that your Rubies are also "one of a kind" and there is a likelihood that even these may also become hard to find in time to come.

And by the way, in bright sunshine outdoors (which is the reason why we wear sunglasses), the color is quite stunning too. Unless you are a collector of Juliets of various time periods, you are still getting yourself a very good pair of Oaks in my book. This thread is in response to many people I know who have searched and are still searching the holy grail of Ruby only to be disappointed. Make your peace and appreaciate your Oaks.

Am I correct to say that the high BIN price for that Ichiro is to help pay the ebay fees for his multiple listings of "Revised"?

It appears that more and more people are converting garages into designer kitchen, spas, home theatres and other slightly unusual luxuries, at least according to the Yahoo article.

I wonder if any members here has converted their garage into an Oakley showroom?

Tsing Tao (Qing Dao), I think that's where they make one of China's more popular export grade beer, by the same name. That is the only beer from China I will ever drink. I've heard them reuse soy sauce bottles to bottle their lesser known beers and just stick a new label over the previous soy sauce label without removing them first. I wonder if they were ever disinfected.

Maybe ZZ is looking at another career after soccer. LOL As a former martial artist myself, I am very proud of the way the headbutt was delivered: accurate and with real venom... not that I am endorsing this behavior on the soccer pitch.

Zidane, like "Kung Fu" Cantona some years back, is after all a "multi-talented" individual and would like his other "gifts" to be acknowledged on TV. The best part is that he still manage to win the golden ball award.

Let's face it, even if Australia qualified instead of Italy, they would have been knocked out at this stage by Germany. Although Hiddink has injected a bit of tactical prowess in the team, the socceroos still lack the experience, flair and creative play of many European Nations.

I'm not taking anything away from them. I think they are really dedicated to their chosen sport and the penalty decision was unfair. However, it remains a fact that they still have to play catch-up with other countries because of the absence of a good league in their home country due to preference for an alternative sport.

Back to the topic of Germany, I think they deserved to be knocked out. I watched replays of many matches and can't help but notice how dirty they play. Players like Ballack Frings, Odonkor should have been fined for play-acting and disgraceful behavior on many occasions. The German player that stood out on overall package and fair play in my book would have to be Lahm. I think he has the maturity to be a future captain.

Italy played a smart game and gave the impression in the last 5 to 10 minutes that they were going to settle for penalty and the germans let their guard down. Even if they went to penalty, I do not think Italy will lose. Buffon has been excellent the entire campaign.

Wait a sec, I thought there are at least 2 new X metals coming out.

By the way, the sketch looks wicked but it seems to suggest a move towards a half rim kinda design. I really hope that the new one is a full rimmed version.

The important question will be whether the variety of lens and frame colors are as varied as the Juliets. I hope the price doesn't top the current Romeo 2.0.
