BMCaps doesn't know his a$$ from a hole in the ground. He thinks Keystone lenses in an Oakley frame makes something 100% authentic Oakley. Elite is one of those pet projects I think, and while they want to get it out ASAP, it is something that has to be 100% perfect considering the price range attached. Oakley will release it when it's right, simple as that.
There are better sources than bmcaps like the easter bunny and Santa Claus, but i was speaking to my manager about the elite series a couple of weeks ago and she said last she heard was that it was put on hold.
I'm not surprised. With the economic conditions the way they are, I figured they would suspend it for the foreseeable future. They may reverse that, though.
from what I heard, the price point is going to be cheaper on the entry level piece(around 4-600). Also the top tier(4 grand) is going to come with a DVD that pretty much shows your glass being made and is really cool! I guess some of the carbon fiber matierals have to be done on a machine that is so rare, the only thing that it is used for is the McLaren F1! I think it is good that they are going to the extremes for this series, make sure everything is 100% tight!
Glad to see the entry level is much more attainable than originally thought. Hopefully it'll have more industrial-inspired designs rather than fashion fad-inspired designs to match the perceived coolness of the line.
Cool news, Brent. Not to make light of the cool factor of getting a DVD of your eyewear being made, but it is just too easy to pass up. You drop $4k on a pair of sunglasses ... but it came with a DVD!!
OK Guys, we have combined the most technologically advanced materials in the world to create the finest specimen of "Science wrapped in art" imaginable.
Yeah, but it's still missing something.
I know..... a hooker
Yeah, that will appeal to our young male demographic and introduces a marketing opportunity for the name.
