Classic sport dial looks are the old Heuer ---NOT TAG Heuer-- Carrera 1964 classics. Gone are the classic chronograph days. Examples.

I myself am going to LA in 2 and a half weeks. I am also doubting between the Timebomb and the TimeTank. I'm leaning towards the TT because it just looks so incredibly Oakley. It's a lot more industrial and excentric. The Timebomb is and stays a classic, especially with the carbon fibre dial. My mind is not set yet. You guys have to pursuade me...

Pander,
If you think that the TT looks Oakley to you, then the decision has been made. I think the Bomb looks much more Oakley to me than the TT and that's largely the impetus for my going on and on about the two watches and the differences between them.

I don't think the Tank looks very Oakley defining at all, but that's me.

But if you look at the bracelet with the way the links are attached, the pure industrial look. And the little rivets on the dial.
But on the other hand, the Timebomb has a real history and a story behind it. It's already a part of Oakley history. But the Timebomb has a much more fluid design and less bulky. That's its charm

I have more than 8 watches. I have had torpedo, blade, detonator, and my overall favorite is timebomb wear it everyday. Hell i had the Gold Timebomb for almost a year until someone threatened me by saying he was going to cut my arm off if i didnt give it to him. SECURITY PLEASE! Yeah i stopped wearing it in public and put it up for sale. TIMEBOMB overall best.

I wonder if the guy would have crapped himself had you been a CCW licensed citizen and pulled on the threat? Talk about irony in that case. I don't blame you, that is pure BS for some cockroach to attempt that!!!!

I think both TB and TT are very Oakley. They just relate to the brand image at their respective eras.

TimeBomb was out at a time where X-Metals were at their birth stage, especially Mars at that same year (1998). That year also saw the introduction of Racing Jacket and Moon, two other ''Overthetop'' creations. TimeBomb was probably the Oakley-est product they made at that time, along with Romeo, Overthetop, Juliet, XX...some people refer to these styles as if they come ''from outer space''...

TimeTank came out this year, along with models like Eyepatch, O ROKR, Oil Drum, Gascan S...all models that scream industrial, but with a trendy look that identify very well with the streets, the high class, and the dominant figure of having something ''big'' : big SUV, big rims, big watch. So at this era and stage of the company, yes, TimeTank is probably the product that fits Oakley the most, along with Thump Pro, in my opinion.

That being said, I don't think you should make your choice based on ''which one says more Oakley?'', unless you're looking for ''which one is the most Oakley-est NOW?'' Of course, anybody feel free to disagree with my perspective on the matter, but being a long-term Oakley fan and now employee, who gets a lot of updates on company target markets, objectives, and such...I don't think I'm far off the line in my argument.

5 years ago, the coolest time piece to rock with a Mars was probably the TimeBomb. Today, the TimeTank is probably way more appropriate to wear with your White Oil Drum with Diamond-encrusted icons !

Fook it, who am I kidding, buy both and let's lock this thread ! hahaha just kidding.

Finally though, if both appeal to you, go with most other people's logic concerning availability. The more you wait, the harder and the more expensive it will be to get a TB. TimeTank came out THIS year. You still have plenty of time to get it in the future, and who knows, we might see some new colors, maybe even a limited edition ???

there are a lot of great arguments there...Oakley really hasn't released a "total bomb" of a product, just some may have been so far out in left field that they came across to crazy...Look at the OTT's for example...Only introduced to show people how the regular eyewear wasn't really all that crazy in comparison, but it took off like wild fire!!! It is all relative as stated above, and very well pointed out. Take it or leave it, they both are AWESOME products, but each may not be the choice for one or the other buyer. I like them both, and yes, the Tank is large. Makes my TB look like a woman's Icon next to a TB when side by side, but they both are beautiful watched in their own respect, and they are both very well built machines...

Thanks for a ll the advise!
It's quite hard to get to see the watches in real life here in Holland, availability is always an issue here. There is only one (1!) store in the entire country that sells Oakley watches. So I have only seen the TT once and the TB twice. They apparently hardly ever sell an Oakley watch. So stock is always very low, it's a pretty long drive and their knowledge is not quite what you wish for. So that's why I asked you guys to paint me a picture of your thoughts about the matter at hand. So that I myself can create an honoust opinion. I am starting to lean towards the TB now. Seeing that it still is a masterpiece and the future won't look very bright for BNIB deals.

like I have offered to others, if you want a TB at the reduced Vault prices, I would be glad to help facilitate the deal. All costs are yours and I go by my local one everyday on my way home, so stopping isn't an issue...If you decide on a TB...

not at HQ, Spectrum O Store or the local vaults...There is one in Cabazon (Near me on the way to Palm Springs area), and Carlsbad (towards San Diego)...They would probably be the closest...

So they do not have TB's at HQ?
How much would a X-metal - Carbon Fibre TB cost at a Vault?

$250 plus taxes...would be like right at $271

Seriously?? Wow! In euroos that would be 210 euroos. The only shop in Holland still uses the old prices: 1500 euroos (=1950 USD) that's a little bit different...
