Anybody heard of these lenses? There's a guy selling what he calls Square Wire 2.0 with VR28 Blue Polar non-polarised lenses. I emailed him asking if he's sure about these (and for the SKU) and got the following reply:
"The sku is peeled off on the box. But these are not polarized. I use to work for oakley and the vr28 are now all polarized but they didnt use to be. These are blue polar ice vr28. VERY RARE!"

What do you reckon? I'm thinking that they are either fake or just regular ice.

VR28 Blue Polar non-polarised lense
Isn't this an Oxymoron? ..or maybe the seller's just a moron :)

blue "polar" ice vr28
What, besides "polarized" is the "polar" part supposed to mean?

Rare, but not rare. polar but not polarised. No wonder the dude is ex-Oakley.

Harry,
they definitely just look like "Ice" to me. Don't fall for anything he tells you. Just look at the picture. It's pretty plain to see what they are.

Just because something is "Rare" does not mean it's sought after. In other words there are items like Zero 0.3p's that are rare and highly sought after and then there are items that are rare, but they are not anything special. Anything Square wire 2.0 falls into the latter category. Nobody's going to step over their mother to get them nor is it worth the extra cost just because they are "rare". Just my two cents.

One caveat, if it's something you really reallllly want then go for it, otherwise don't bother.

They look very very much like my G30 black chrome square wire 2.0

Pez: I agree that square wire 2.0 are unlikely to be that rare but some of them are certainly very desirable (to me at least). I'd certainly give plenty for certain pairs (like the for the Square Wire 2.0 VR50 ruby). Just as I would for the Big Square Wire with -red.

Or a NIB Black Chrome / + Red pair...I'd give a minor organ for a pair of those. Back on topic, I think that he's trying to shaft someone into paying more for a Silver / Ice pair.

Of all the ironies I was at the O-store about 5 months ago, saw that they had like ten pairs of that exact color. I thought "ehhh I'll come back next week" came back in and every last pair was already sold. One of the bigger mistakes I've made collection-wise.

I've got a pair of NIB black chrome / G30 and a pair of NIB light / +red, the lenses would be easy enough to swap. Which minor organ are we talking about?

Found this at everyones favorite place to buy Oakley, which also happens to be the most imfamous, anyway here is what the seller has them listed as
OAKLEY, M Frame- Matte Black Frame/ VR28 Blue Iridium Lens, Hybrid S, NEW
Lens VR28 Blue Iridium
Light 14%
Index 3
Base VR28
Coating G30 Iridium
Purpose Increased Contrast
Lighting Extremely Bright Light
Looks lagit to me, it has what looks like a G30 coating on a VR28 base just like VR28 Blue polarized, and unlike G30 which is G30 on G30. Although in all fairness, I would have a very very hard time distinguishing between what this seller is trying to pass as VR28 Blue and G30, because G30's base color is very close to VR28.

It's not a G30 lens in this M-frame, the seller is right. The G30 for M-Frame got a greenish iridum coating and the base is more pink than the brown from VR28

Should just be Blue Iridium - which seems to share the VR28 base. Looks to be the same sort of thing I posted last weekend in a 'help identify' thread.

Blue Iridium, I believe once had a Bronze base, and then it was changed to gray later on. I have even seen early 1st generation Crystal Clear/Blue Iridium M-Frames with half bronze and half gray base tints

Index 3

Coating Blue Iridium
