I ask this of those that have been here a while.

Back in the '80s (early '90s ?) I remember seeing Oakley windbreakers in iridescent colors. (everybody had nylon windbreakers don't deny it)! They had the stretch logo and "Thermonuclear Protection" on them.

I don't see a listing in the Apparel section on here for it and I am wondering if it was something Oakley produced or some kind of liscenced product through another company?

Any insight you have would be most awesome.

I believe they were not official.

They were made by a group named SurfStyle, and I don't believe they were liscensed by Oakley at all. I was always told they were fake and later version started to show with the words SurfStyle written as the Oakley logo then was. I had even heard many stories of "raids" by reps on the boardwalks in NJ and MD (my area for vacationing) seizing them from shops selling them.

Thanks for the info. So far I have found a few on the e-bay.

Again any insight you have is most welcome, I figured it would go well with the frogskins for a retro look.

You're correct Fred, I do indeed. I'll try and find a picture of it...

Fantastic!

I know there has been knock off stuff since forever with Oakley products. Thanks for setting it straight.

I know the first pair I got in middle school from the flea market were fake: Snake skin gold Eye Jackets. (For shame!)

Thanks Adam for the pic, guess I'll have to try and hunt that down instead...

They seem to be pretty rare I'm afraid but good hunting anyway, let us know if you find one!

They were lost some time ago. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust.
