They do look great, but the more I see customized X-metal frames, the more I love the regular factory-produced frames.

But I can honestly say I'm completely impressed by the level of quality some of these frame customizers are capable of putting out. Some of them are indistinguishable from a factory pair.

Anyone with the desire to customize a frame on their own can do that. If anyone can do it, I don't see how that can raise the value. It's like sticking a body kit on a Civic and thinking you've raised the value. In fact, you have just decreased its value. If the guy was doing it for himself: great, but he's tossing it on the Internet thinking it's worth $900...that's where I have to say "Get real". Where's my can of Tremclad and Clear Coat?...

I definitely like how the Pearl White frame looks. But I totally agree that the amount being asked is way off base. If you like the look enough to spend $900, then why not just get the pair done that way yourself and save a few hundred?

Although seeing this gives me the desire to make my own Carbon and Pearl Penny frames. =D

here is the problem....saw this in an auction for a certain pair of oaks. Now to the everyday uneducated they will believe this statement. "Current market value…$450+" based on my calculations its only worth $255.86 mint with box and such. This is the basis for the problem with any collectable. you always find a few @$$hOle$ that try and drive up the price on the ignorant. oh by the way it is a pair of c-100's. and does anyone know who "mfer_mxer" is as he said its part of his collection. maybe he is one of the OR members??

I don't think he is, and the early artist pieces haven't done sh!t in a while now. C100 are fetching about $300, and DF1&2 are in the upper $300's...Not anything like they were before the global economic pandemic...

Original retail on the C100's was nuts. $450 is less than I paid iirc.
