I own a pair of 1st Generation Juliet sunglasses. As mentioned in the reviews, this frame tends to discolour a bit when people sweat a lot. Mine has started to do so. They do not have a serial number on them. I recently scratched the original Ice lenses and have placed some authentic Ice Polarized lenses into these frames. I have also replaced the nose bombs and ear socks with original Oakley parts. My question is....I want to change this frame to the 2nd generation frame. Will Oakley do so and return them with my original lenses intact?

Thanx

Possibly if you state that the frame is discoloring, they may help you out, which at this point they could probably only replace it with a gen2 frame. Just one of those things where you'll probably have to call, since you'll get different answers from everyone.

Speaking of which, is there any way to tell if a plasma frame is first generation other than waiting for the discoloration to occur?

Did the polarized lenses fit easily into the nonpolarized frame? I was thinking about stepping up to polarized lenses, but was worried about cracking or other problems because of the lens thickness.

Hi guys, sorry if I took so long to reply as I can't be using this PC at work for personal stuff, but I really can't resist replying.

The 1st gen plasma frame is a light silver frame, the 2nd gen is more of a dark silver, almost the same color as the titanium in Pennys but a little shinier. I have the same problem with the 1st gen plasma, my sweat is acidic and it blemished the frame, and the sweat when comes into contact with the unobtanium it breaks down into a sticky goo. I'm not sure if the blemish problem in the 1st gen has been solved by the 2nd gen. What's weird is that this only happens to the plasma frame and not the xmetal frames.

Better that before putting the frame in the microbag or vault, dry them using tissue paper and let it dry under the sun or in front of a fan before storing.

They did indeed fix the discoloration problem with the 2nd gen Plasma frames. It only happenned with the Plasma frames before because it didn't have a finishing coat on the metal, like the Xmetal color.

What a fantastic forum! I will call Oakley and see if I can update my frame. As stated before, the 2nd generation frame is a little smoother and polished than the 1st generation frame. It is however not as shiny as a polished X-metal frame.

I did not have any problems putting my polarized lenses into the 1st generation frame.

I have been told...and don't quote me on this...but I have heard that polarized lenses will fit in X-metal glasses that weren't originally polarized. I hear problems exisit only for putting in polarized lenses in O-matter frames that aren't originally polarized.

Just an interesting note, I recently just noticed that near the nosebomb on my X-metal frame juliet, there is like a spot where theres a bunch of little holes (kinda like its eroded), havent really paid much attention to it so im not sure if it came like that. Ill post a pic later, but has anyone had that experience with the X-metal color?

Polarised lenses do fit, a bit tight, but they fit, I put the fire polarised in to the x-metal frames, along with red mars socks and temple shocks. Sweet!

I don't know about Oakley US but in the UK the Oakley customer service team are well nice people, they will replace almost anything just if you ask nicely, especialy FMJ half jacket frames cos the coating cracks when you change the lenses. i currently have a bit of an agreement with my friend rachel who works there where i send here my frame about once every 2 months and she sends me a new one. Also if you get fake oakleys, damage them then send them to oakley asking for a repair (totally inocently not knowing they are fake that is) then they destroy them for you and offer you their closest match at 50% rrp.

What the? Are you serious??? How would oakley know if you are "innocently" sending in a pair of fakes? Whats stopping someone from just sending in a pair of fake x-metals and then be able to get a real pair for half the retail price?

No really, thats what they do, i know loads of people who have done it, my friend came back from greece with some fake romeos he knew were fake, but they looked pretty good. They broke after about a week though so we decided to give it a try - they can't confiscate your property so they offered us some romeo's for £111 (They are £235 normally in UK) then when he got them, i forged him a recipt, he returned them to a shop and got £235 cash!

Seems ripe for abuse, but that's interesting. I'm always hearing different sotries about how lenient they'll be on returns, but that's a whole new level.

I guess I am from Oakley and will now probably read this (and post) regularly. Since I am customer service (US) I can tell you that things are definately different here.

For one, all Juliet frames are the same size and will fit either polarized or non-polarized lenses.

Two the old plasma frames that discolored will be replaced with the new plasma frame if you send it in. No charge with a receipt under one year or $29 there after. The new plasma frame looks significantly different from the old one.

As fas as counterfeit glasses go, Oakley US will not do anything for them or to them. We simply send them back (trackable so we know they get back to you and dont have to send you a real pair if they are lost) and will not service them in any way. No discount is offered towards any new pair. This is fact.

I HAVE gotten people jobs in customer service before. Unfortunately this is the wrong time of year to be asking. Customer Service has a hiring window from about march-june/july. After that they just fire a lot of people at the end of the Summer. Everyone in CS starts as a temp (as did I) and if you make it pretty strong for 5-7 months then Oakley will hire you on. If not you will probably get fired. Thats really the way it works pretty much.

How about my discolored titanium Romeo...will Oakley replace them because of the defect? I do not have a receipt and I bought this back in 1997

Yes, but you will probably be charged $29.

We also are offering an exchange on Romeo's. Since they are being discontinued (but mostly because all Romeo's have lenses that constantly crack) you can exchange to the Juliet or XX X-metal in the same price range ($275) at no charge. Call customer service for details on that.

Astounding. It's been only a few weeks since I've been away and so much has happened here at the Oakley Review.

Welcome, Elijah. I know I'm only repeating what so many other have said long before me, but welcome to our little--or not so little--circle of fanatics.

My Ruby lenses finally came in, but the second pair is still on its way apparently. I've got about three other colors ordered and pending, so I guess I have to wait patiently.

Also, it seems that Oakley hasn't yet responded to my resume....haha. How many people here have asked you for work, E?
