I think for me, its the way these new releases are hinted at for a month prior then finally thrown out onto the street. There is just something missing that was there before...say like with the Jawbone (which may or may not have had Lux influence), we knew about it in say the fall/early winter and there was sort of this curiousness and thinking about it...a frame we were looking forward to for the start of spring (and cycling if your actually using it as intended). It was released and I think by now its safe to say its here to stay.

Pitboss I and C-Six. The whole 'Elite' line was hyped up beyond belief and if you paid the price you got to own and wear a design and piece of art derived from the era when there was a huge emphasis on Mad Science. Thats what made it Elite. The Timebomb Elite was awesome, as was the rare FMJ watches. Pitboss were at first a limited production, but then production was resumed and sustained for about a year..whatever, the frame is still awesome and if you are an old school Oakley fan, you probably should have a pair. Then they just suddenly kill off the Elite line. Pitboss II, which I wasn't even aware of until visiting their site early spring this year, suddenly comes out. It looks Ok, but at the end its nothing more than a refreshed Pitboss I without the 'eliteness'. Its like, what the hell is that?

Its a mix of other things too.. I'm not happy that X-metal has been eliminated. I'm also not happy that for the switchlock sport frames, the customer is forced to pay for a spare set of boring utility lenses in addition to another $30 case. So I just forgo the purchase. I also don't appreciate the 'quiet', overnight $10 price increases, especially when I recognize the price increase was applied a few times to the same model over the years.

Point is for this new stuff, whether its a sport frame or regular-wear frame (as I call it), I don't really get that thrill of how unique and different the complete glass and colorway looks on the first impression anymore. I honestly don't care about the new Jupiter carbon, Two Face or Style switch..

I could go on...

I watched the CBS story the day it aired. My view is that even though Oakley is an 'independent' entity of Luxottica (or we are guided to believe that), Luxottica encourages Oakley to churn out as many new models as they can each year even if they are near similiar to a frame that was already released. If something new becomes popular then so be it for 5+ years, if not then it gets axed and there is no significant money lost. The women's frames are ridiculous, the way they are pumped out makes me believe they are mostly Luxottica with an Oakley badge.

Ok, my venting is done and I'll get back on topic. I guess that glass looks ok. Looks very similiar to the Razrwire bluetooth glass that was sold a few years ago, with a few changes.

Appears that O is relaunching a refreshed Straight Jacket line, with earstem bars that the same or of simliar colorway as the frame, rather than a contrast. I'd love for am FMJ 7.62 w/ fire orange again, but a silver frame with orange will have to do for now.

I watched green hornet a few weeks ago (which was actually my last netflix blu-ray rental before cancelling) and thought the same thing about the stickers. I thought the masks were pretty cool, perhaps the masks were designed by Oakley??

I finally made way to the Times Square store this weekend, and its far from being what would be considered a flagship store. Positive notables about the store include the factory pilot seats which I'm guessing are the same variety as those at headquarters..perhaps they were at headquarters?? They also had an aluminum C-six, which I tried on and loved...not allowed to purchase though by my wifee :) . NYC unique apparel is pretty cool, and thats what I ended up picking up. The staff are very very friendly and cool, and fit the O profile to represent what old O used to stand for. Great store, but pretty tiny. Not sure if I'd make it a priority to visit it everytime going into NYC, if I'm there for sight seeing.

I think it should be one of the guys here that picked up a C-Six!!

I checked them out this past weekend finally, and I'd probably own at least the aluminum version if it weren't for me being married...

Pit Bull looks good!

Can't help but to think of the Pit Bull hoverboard from BTTFII. ;)

So I loaded up O's site and was greeted to a picture of boardshorts being 'stretched' to the point of almost being ripped apart by various carbineer hooks. Just thought I'd inform everyone, the younger folks more or less, that the idea for this picture is stolen from the Hellraiser movies and the concept of hooks flying sadistically into people's skin and being ripped apart by Pinhead and the Cenobites. Theses are very gory and twisted movies, but are actually pretty good in terms of story, especially the earlier ones.

I just can't stand when I see marketing people stealing and applying ideas from older media concepts that are 10-20 years old and applying them to a new generation as if its their own original thing.

Just so everyone knows, Lowes sells those paper towel holders. They are in the kitchen area. Pretty cool item, recommend picking one up if you sort of want one because its probably considered trademark infringement, whether intentional or not... O will probably have them quietly ceased and decisted.

Nice Eye Jackets by the way! Those remind me of being on the slopes as a teenager back in the day.

Oakley needed a pair that looks like the Maui Jim wires which sweep back and enclose each eye with a spherical lens. (think of the glasses that Bruce Wayne wears in The Dark Knight when he is taking his recon pictures). I kind of like them.

I'd hold on to anything with a special limited run print on the sides. They might be easy to find now, but 2 years from now, they'll be more than twice what you paid for them, and 5 years from now who knows. I'd consider selling a more generic colorway that just came out to market over the Tron gascan.

My wife and I (and my inlaws) all received one of these at our houses going into the Christmas shopping season, as early as October perhaps. Its pretty cool item, just never got around to talking about it because of limited time.

+1 Dann. The grooves that the lens sit in on TRON (and 3d gascan) are inset towards your eyes about 0.5mm further at the lower portion of the orbital to accomidate the sphereical lenses. There is probably a different curvature at the top portion as well, but its hard to tell.

That said, you can still fit standard gascan lenses (not asian or -s) into a 3d gascan frame. I tested with a spare set of gray gascan lenses, wore them out for a day or so and had no issues. There is tad bit of distortion, but I don't believe its going to cause headaches even over a long period of time. I did not do the laser test to check how much image shift occurs.

If its personally an issue, swap the earstems to a standard black frame front.

X-squared in polished carbon and oo bi polarized.

Minute Machine with ti band.

Jawbone custom in full matte black frame w/ +red polarized and another polarized lens. Not sure of the bolt, icon, earsock colors yet.

I'd be happy if I could aquire these for this year without much else.

Does the Tron Pit Boss bag have the same 'suede' quality and feel as the standard elite bag?

Awesome setup btw!!!

That was one of my wife's O presents to me...the Tron 3d glasses. Definitely cool and I wasn't even expecting them since I didn't ask for anything for christmas this year :)

We went to see the movie last thursday, and I was like the only person with my own 3d glasses. The movie itself probably had the best use of special effects and cgi I've ever seen. None of it was really gimicky or anything. The plot itself wasn't very deep, but I wasn't expecting much from that aspect.

Right now I have a spare set of grey (ie. black) lenses in that frame and I like them. Probably get the Ice lenses since I have 4 gascan frames now and 5 total pairs of lenses. May try putting the fire lenses in since the movie had the whole blue is good, orange is evil color theme.

Whats the point of these people mixing fake product with real packaging? Too much effort in my opinion, unless s/he knows its hard to trace.

I remember I got duped on a pair of Razrwires from ebay for like $90. The packaging was about 95% accurate complete with balistic foam, but the ink on the box and printed booklets looked like it came from a residental laser printer or 3rd hand commercial printer as it had black ink smears and evidence of other flaws. The optics in the glasses was worse than gas station glasses, and the glasses themselves felt like recyled metal rather than aluminum which is what I think those are made from. The BT device looked real and worked, but it wobbled around when mounted.

I crafted and sent a belittling email citing how I knew they were fake to the tw*t that sold them to me and immediately got a full refund the next day asking me to keep the items free of charge.

Don't feel bad if you missed the "5-day watch sale", as it only lasted through the early afternoon of Saturday when the blue faced Judge II randomly appeared for only $104 or so. Hopefully someone here picked up one of the watches on sale, even if it wasn't at the 80% discount.

All the mens watches are sold out as of 12:30am Friday! I have a feeling that more will pop back up again each day, as the inventory in terms of colors and bands has been fluctuating since black friday.

Tron Pit Boss are up as well as a combo pack w/ hard backpack. Pretty cool, but I think the Elites should be left alone.

Whats next...an artist series pit boss?

That print ad is why I bought my 5.56 FMJ New Eye Jacket a couple years ago. I think when Jordan was involved for that ad, they were still on the original Eye Jacket though.
