LIEUTENANT -
One can't consider himself as an oakley collector, unless he owns at least one x metal pair of oakley sunglasses with this frame. It's the finish that makes every pair of glasses look like they're coming from outer space, something so far away from the regular standards of the eyewear industry. It's no coincidendce that ALL kinds of sunglasses look good in that finish. The mars, the romeo, everything, even the unsuccesful romeo 2 and half x are becoming objects of desire in that finish. Not to mention the x metal xx,penny, juliet.I just couldn't resist to them.It has to be the best oakley finish ever.

This is the one to have. Looks really good with Ruby or Emerald. The look and feel of it are just amazing. It also shows all details of the frame design and it is totally unique to X-Metal frames.

I'm a fan of matte finishes, so this frame makes me pretty happy. It works well with every lens I've seen. The only possible exception is a gold iridium lens. The only reason I say that is because of the entire brown/black fashion faux pas. Gold is brownish, x-metal is blackish, therefore, not a very good match. Otherwise, great overall choice of frame color
The Dealer -
An awesome frame when using any lens color other than black iridium - which is the most common. It shows the lines of the X-metals quite well for being a dark (not overly so) color that looks like it came off of a Stealth Fighter/Bomber. Also very stiff in comparison to the other X-Metal colors when replacing lenses (due to the baking of the matte color) - but don't be fooled - the color can be scraped off quite easily and display the silver color underneath which can be quite unattractive.
TDM -
the epitome of X-Metal design! the feel and appearance of x-metal lends a unique style to the range. it looks and feels like it can withstand the hardest of conditions which lends itself to the military-industrial look of the x-metal range, sunglasses which look as though they were engineered for a rugged purpose.
DoctorCrip -
By far my favorite frame option for the X-Metal line of glasses. This finish gives the glasses a very classy, sophisticated and expensive look, very similar to the Titanium color on the Timebomb line of watches - which also happens to be my favorite for many of the same reasons. I also think that this finish hides - G-d forbid - scuffs and scratches on the frame very well, also much like the Titanium watch color.

These frames embody the Industrial look that Oakley has made itself known for. The X-metal ruby lens combo on the Juliet is simply amazing (and rare since X-metal/Black are a dime a dozen). Plus they are much stronger than my Polished frames (can't get the ruby lenses out without risking damage to the lens or frame, argh!!) the only reason I gave 4 instead of 5 is because it doesn't have the hammer stems my polished frames have which give my polished frames a better grip than the X-metal frames.
Iwan -
No sense in discussing color: it's a dark matte green. You either like it or not. Much more important to me is that it scratches real easy so for that reason I only award it 3 stars though it pains me to do so

The ORIGINAL. Still holds its ground in the company of the latecomers. More versatile than a lot of people know. Not many lenses don't look good in this bad boy. Available on every X-Metal released and they all look good. A historically important frame since it was the first X-Metal frame produced back in '97.
Pander -
This is what makes the X-metals stand out! The industrial material in combination with the design of the frames. It's just the best choice of frame option for the X-metal designs!
bad aim -
Very nice frame! I love the industrial look to it. Originally, I bidded for a Carbon framed Juliet, but was sent a X Metal one. Not a bad mix up, I must say LOL

Very nice.
RubyMars -
THE frame color for X-Metals. Industrial, rough to the touch. Feels stronger than any polished X-Metal frame as stupid as that might sound. This is the epitome of Oakley though. Pure performance and function in the frame and no polishing or painting to dress it up.
BronzeT -
I got one just so I can say that I have one.But I would rather have Carbon or Polished.

I look at the x-metal color as the father of x-metal frames. These are really cool up close. If you are a x-metal fan/collector, your collection is not complete until you have one of these colorways.
SOLID GOLD -
It just grows on you this frame, I feel. Nothing spectacular at first but it's become a staple of all X metal frames. If you notice they're trying to pair it with polarized lens now. Uping the posh factor for the colour. My next pair would be this colour. Understated cool. 5 stars
DarkJuliet -
Yet another frame option that comes in generations. First generation X-Metal finish looks more rugged and imperfect than the newer generations of X-Metals. The new finish is too fine which, unfortunately, takes away from the metallic overtone of it all.

Overall, a fine frame option that bridges the gap between showiness and subdued quiet style.

i had the Xmetal color frame on my Mars before. i sold the mars and traded it for a pair of polished juliet but i'm definitely gonna get the juliet Xmetal frame after this. it's one of my favorite frame option, it has industrial rugged look and classy at the same time. i just wish oakley will release a juliet xmetal combo coupled with lens others than the black iridium. that's the only thing holding me from getting the xmetal juliet pair.
O.T.T. -
I lusted after the X-Metal juliets for years and got the ruby lenses. After reading the rest of the reviews I admit I wish it was darker/more black but with the same texture. Still giving it 5 stars though.
Ed -
The original X-Metal frame color. The matte grey finish is very industrial-looking. Kinda reminds me of the exterior of Oakley HQ. Although X-Metal is an applied finish, I can imagine that raw, unfinished Ti castings could look something like it.
LEX7 -
I have this on my crater mars and a pair of juliets.
i would prefer this if it was darker, more black rather than the dark grey that it actually is.
it is still a great colour for the X-metal range and looks great with Ice and Ruby lenses.
oogie -
Totally the "black" frame for the X-metal family. *yawn* If you spend $300 on some x-metals ... go get something with a bit more personality.
x-metalman -
Pretty much the "Black" of the X-Metal lineup. I don't really like this frame unless it has Black lenses, because I find the Ruby lenses just don't stand out enough in this frame to warrant their placement in it. They would be way more suited to the Carbon frame, which I think they should come standard in. It's an alright frame in the end though.
Dann -
The standard frame for most X-Metal's. The downfall is, that the X-Metal/Black combo is my least favorite, yet most common variant. Once you put in another lens, then you see the true beauty of the frame.
Iggy -
The industrial metal look is always cool. That is one of the aspects of Oakley I love, after all!
addicted2o -
beautiful frame that goes with the ruby lenses...this frame is what oakley is all about...very sophisticated and classy x metal frame are frontrunners of the x metal family
