About 2 years now

I had wanted a pair of Oakleys throughout high school but was never able to get myself a pair. During my freshman year of college, I decided I was going to bite the bullet and finally grab some. I picked up a pair of Darts not knowing they were a woman’s pair and wore those for a while. Once I discovered they were from the woman’s line, I went back to looking for another pair. I ended up getting the Matte Clear/Text Oil Rig for $100 and thought that was a decent price. After a little bit I realized I’ve never seen another pair so I started looking into them. I discovered the OakleyForum and joined. Eventually I stumbled over to the O-Review. The rest is history.

Oakley Dart – Black/Grey Polarized

My biggest regret I have is probably not getting myself a pair sooner

his year I’m focusing on watches and I’ve had my eye on a Time Bomb 2 for a while now, but it’ll probably be another Mars.

Not sure I could pick just one. My Mars with factory ice lenses are probably first on the list due to the rarity and just the awesome look and story behind it.

Last summer I built myself a double wide size case that I have in my room at home. When I’m off school for a while, I have my stuff there. When I’m at school, I usually have 8-10 pair floating around my room on a shelf and a custom wall mounted display I made.

I don’t get to an Oakley store often because it’s about a 2 hour drive for me, but the vault at Chicago Premium Outlets in Aurora, IL has served me well and has some awesome people.

I do. Recently I’ve been on a buying hiatus due to school and life, so I’ve been playing around with boring old pairs. Most of this started when Anton challenged me to find a way to frost his custom 0.3 lenses. After I did it, it got me thinking about what else I could do. I’ve been doing a lot of distressed “skate-deck” pairs for myself and others, as well as the sharpie art I just started playing with. I’ve also done a few custom lens chops and mars crater wraps. It’s good to keep it fresh.

I’ve recently got into watches and currently have a yellow face minute machine and an orange face hollowpoint, but I’ll pretty much get anything if the price is right. I also use a kitchen sink going to and from campus.

Well my father owns a metal fabrication shop and now a hobby shop as well. I enjoy doing metal work and building/designing all kinds of things. I’m the head repair man at our hobby shop so I get to play with all the RC cars, planes, helicopters, you name it. It’s a lot of fun and lets me experience a lot of very different things.

Don’t burn yourself out. It’s important to pace yourself with your purchases to keep it enjoyable and keep out of trouble with any spousal figures. Share good deals with others and people will usually remember and help you out when you need it. The collector community has to be one of the best out there and is full of amazing people.

The usual: too expensive, too many, waste of money, etc. They just don’t understand us collectors.

I’m not sure I could pick a singular moment, but it’s been awesome to meet such good people all around the world and come together for the same purpose.

I’d just like to say thanks to the communities both here and on OakleyForum that have provided such a wonderful outlet and meeting place for collectors to come together.
