the carbon blue ones are by far the rarest though.

I don't think there's anything special about those glasses (other than the obvious, of course). I think it just comes down to the people bidding on the auction wanting it that badly. I was watching that auction since it started and was surprised it was able to pull that amount, but it isn't unheard of. In the latter half of last year, I saw a Ruby Juliet pull in in $640 (and change) and a Ruby Penny pull in $611 (both paid for with positive feedback). As well, the RJs went for over $500 several times. And these weren't the X-men LEs either...just the regular edition. Outliers like these are bound to occur.

Hah, Alex got some glasses like these off of me for a whole lot less than this sucker.

How are they working out for you Alex?

Maybe they've got their mates bidding it up for them so that someone sees the price rising and thinks that theyre rarer than they are...

I think they are alot rarer than the other ICHIRO cos i see the polished/emerald slate and the other ones all the time but i never see the carbon blue.
so surely that means they are more rare?

Not quite sure that it means they are rare. Rarer than what's offered now, maybe, but perhaps not rare in general. It's out of production, so we wouldn't see it as often as the stuff that's still being sold (ie. the Slate and Emerald Slate stuff). There were a lot of them available when they were out, though.

It's tough to judge rarity on newer items (esp. those that we don't know the production #s to) when product gets moved from the Sellers' hands to the consumers, as the consumers tend to recycle product less frequently than dealers.

Somebody should probably tell the seller they come with two nosepads and two temple inserts, instead of four nosepads...

I'm sure the seller is just tickled that the Juliets sold for $625. I'm sure he isn't really caring about the finer details of nose pads vs temple shox right now.

It really is amazing how some auctions just go bezerk out there...
