I was wondering that too Darren. They could have worked to make it look like LA or even the Irvine Spectrum store. Unless it wasn't allowed by some strange zoning law.

I'm a little dissapointed too but I know that they had a lot of planning applications turned down, I guess they're just pretty strict in covent garden. in fact I posted links to the planning applications a few months ago, I'll see if I can find the thread

Its a Listed Building, so not too much can be done with the outside. Looks cool on the inside though.....oh and did i mention the BIGGEST in the world

as long as they have the whole range in there, i don't mind making the trek to London, I remember when Niketown opened, I went to see that and was well pissed off , they just had the same as jd sports, but more of it.

It would be nice to see everything all together from the smallest accessories up to the biggest most expensive bits of kit, every single shoe, jacket etc...

Tried to find some photos from the launch party but no luck so far. I reckon you're right Mike, the vast majority of attendees probably had no love of the O.

Well heres a quick run down, I met up with Lex and Nic from here and we were the first ones in the store when it opened at 12.00. The store itself is OK, fairly plain outside (due to planning permission etc) and inside they've got a massive squid thing hanging from the ceiling but there was a bit of dissapointment at the lack of some lines. They didn't have grape gascans (coming in a week), ducati hatchets or xhairs, ash riddles. But they did have most other glasses (and something special, more on that in a mo.) Aside from the glasses the had a fairly wide range of mens/womens apparel and shoes. The main downside was that the majority of the staff had very little product knowledge at all. They couldn't tell what lens tints were what and got some frames mixed up etc. They all had little crib sheets on their lanyards. Hopefully this will get better as time goes on. Met the sales manager, a guy called Uri who used to work in the Hollywood O store and he was a pretty good guy.

Right now the good stuff, I got the try on the Razrwire! Its amazingly light and the bluetooth part twists and unclips to enable you to move it from side to side. The frames aren't the best suited to me but they look OK and the earpiece is really adjustable. Also speaking to one of the guys in the shop we got some info about the Thump 2 - not the 512MB existing thump but a new thump in a new frame... I think I'll keep you guys guessing for a little while about the other details ;)

So what did I buy?
Well it went something like this; Crome Crosshairs, Matte Clear Razorblades, 10w40 Monster Dogs, 2X Tech Socks, 2x Spayed Boxer, Khaki '75 T shirt and Scout Khaki shirt.

In summary then,

Location - Perfect
Store Design - Good
Styles availiable - Everything except the latest new colourways.
Wallet emptying power - Scary

Very cool Adam. Can't wait to see the 10W40 Dogs, and then I'll have to send some cash out your way or to Lex to maybe grab me a pair if I can't find them state side.

Sounds great Adam....So you were one of the first in eh! Bummer about the Gascans, I was gonna say if you want me to send some over let me know, but if there just a week away....
If they don't come I could arrange it for you.
Now did you take any more interior shots???

Even Irvine Spectrum didn't have the Grape Gascan and we weren't sure the Lobby store would either. It was another one of those Dann-and-I-taking-the-only-two-pair-they-had kinda thing.
