Here's a thought:
If you as a company were to change displays, were you going to ask people selling your stuff to 'distroy' the old ones - and take the risk of them ending up at earlier mentioned thriftystore - or would you take them back?

The girl I talked to is an Oakley Vault manager so in theory, yeah they could get away with just keeping the displays but I think they trust their own stores to dispose of them properly.

However, I doubt the same applies to OPD's. I'm sure If they get new displays as well,(which I doubt they will) Oakley will be asking for those back.

new displays are about to come to stores worldwide in the 4th quarter of this year , but not all at once, so it can take up to one year to deliver all new displays to the shops worldwide

Don't get your hopes too far up. The people delivering the new towers and whatnot are grabbing the old displays the same day using the same truck, so there won't be any extra towers floating around.

And the new displays look....interesting.

if oakley made displays availible to buy from the public they would make a lot of money.

Read the thread please.

Kevin said:
I think Oakley is more concerned about their display items landing in the hands of counterfeiters rather than fans, which is what would ultimately happen if they ever did sell stuff like towers and stands.

and in the long run would loose money due to the association of inferior glasses in an Oakley display case. Brand recongition and marketing are worth far more than product sometimes.

Dann, how did you get such major connections to how Oakley is trading display pieces from the stores as well as how the new ones look? Any chance we'll be able to see the new displays anytime soon?

PS, youre the man, Dann!

As Fred said, Q4 will begin the transition to the more fashion-oriented towers. So things won't change until 2007 is done.

Which BOB are you talking about. The black head or the poly-clear head?

The more common black. I've only seen a few pictures ever of the clear one.

Yes indeed. Ive longed for sone of those for a while now. Unfortunately, theyre almost non-existent.

The metal thump Bobs look pretty sweet too...Ive never seen anyone own one of those.
