Sort of sad to see that it won't continue. I suppose it's a good price even if you just want a decent phone, given the prices of Galaxy's at this point.

I do wonder why it won't continue. I know JJ is dealing with some health issues but I thought Jared and the RED crew would continue the Hydrogen.

I'm quite certain only Jim wanted Hydrogen program to exist.
With him retiring, I can understand the others won't follow his commitment, especially with all the struggles that the H1 has been.

I wanted to buy a spare H1, for when my current one will die, but I'm quite sure that by the time it does, I'll want something more up to date.
And I also wanted to order a bunch of accessories, but the price for shipping from US is prohibitive.

I haven't watched the movie (and don't intend to), but supposedly the Hydrogen One appears in the F9 movie:

I still have mine, all beaten up. Thumbprint sensor still dead.
I've had a cracked screen protection that I don't even care replacing considering that a replacement one is a pain to get in switzerland.
And the back camera glass seems cracked also.
All corners paint is now gone.

I'm not taking 3D pictures anymore, and I'm not going on Holopix anymore either.
But I still use it and will still use it as long as it lives, or until I have to switch to something new for a software reason (security, criticial app not updating anymore ...). Then I'll keep it as a cool object in one of my Oakley displays :)

Why would it be in the movie? When it's defunct? I definitely still think it's cool and always will. Just wondering why some other "product" didn't take it's place? Was this shot on RED?

Most certainly. But yeah, I get your point. This is just some very bad product placement on screen.

The movie was filmed a long, long time ago and only released in May. Probably long before JJ announced the death of the Hydrogen program. The movie itself was supposed to be released last year but of course delayed to this year due to COVID. Nobody foresaw either events during filming.

EDIT - Probably a good explanation as any:

https://ymcinema.com/2021/05/08/f9s-behind-the-scenes-video-shows-some-badass-cinematography/

"One of the surprises was seeing the RED Hydrogen One stars in the film. How can it be? The explanation is easy. F9 began shooting in June 2019, back when RED was still selling its smartphone (the Hydrogen One). By the time RED killed the entire Hydrogen project in October, it was already too late, and most of the film was shot, leaving the Hydrogen One trapped in the cinematic universe of The Fast Saga."

I figured they just had overstock, and the RED logo on screen wouldn't be a bad thing.

Mine is sitting in my display case as well. I actually pulled it out to play with yesterday and the dam thing won’t take my PIN to boot up. I have used the same PIN on phones for years so I can’t imagine I forgot it.

Maybe it just reset itself to the factory one ?
Have you tried it ?

Red Hydrogen One as the omnipresent phone in Don't look up movie.
Happy and sad at the same time.
Great phone (even with all the flaws) gone too soon :/

I still use mine to watch videos on Youtube and it is still in perfect condition. I regret that there is no future for him, the story was short, it's sad.
