Hi all,
I bought a Mag 4 long time ago, which was denim. Recently, I sand away all the beautiful denim paint and coating, and polished it to shiny raw metal. check it out;
1) did you dismantle the frame to polish it?
yup, I disasemble every single part of the frame
2) do you get any oxidization?
since i just finished it yesterday, oxidation is not yet happened, but if later it oxidize, i might polish it again and spray a layer of transparent surface paint to protect it
The Magnesium Alloy frame is the only one thats known to corrod. I dont think titanium corrods and I guess alluminum rusts over time but O-luminum's an alloy so it probably doesnt.
Aluminum oxidizes with a cloudy white covering. Magnesium is part of the alkaline earth metals which all react with water to some degree to form oxides.
Very nice job...If it oxidizes, you can get this stuff to fix that issue: http://zoopseal.com/zoopseal.asp it is supposed to stop that for up to a year...
I know they already exist, but if you own a pair of plasma's and are looking for a change, the first thing I think of is changing lens, the next is changing the frame, i.e. polishing them.
Welcome to the site Wong!! Great job there! Yeah maybe u would wanna coat it with clear lacquer (however u spell it) spray to keep it like that? Or any solution that will keep it shinin'? I'm guessing u have a 'small' face wearing that Mag?
Man its really sweet!! =)
EDIT: Hey check it out my posts figure stays at 999!! How cool is that??!! I wish it stays at 777 though (^-^)
Very, very impressive! And again, welcome to the site!
I'm always in awe when we see such a complete transition or customization of a frame. Usually, I can't imagine how one would concieve of the alteration - much less the process of making it look like that. With the prices you can get on a Mag frame these days, it might just be worthwhile to give it a try!
wow... awesome job, and welcome to the site.
i've been wanting to hand polish my Stainless Steel Crush 2.0 watch for the longest time, but i have no idea where to begin.
