Just terrible. We are here for you Lionel if there is anything we can do. It's during times like this when you really see what a close-knit community we are. All the best to you and your family during this time of loss.

Others have said it, but I've gotta echo: Stuff is nothing compared to people. Thank whoever you pray to that no one was hurt.

Hang in there, and stay positive.

WOW - what I am currently going thru is nothing compared to this. So sorry to hear lionel. Material things are replaceable, people are not. So as long as everyone is ok, the rest are just details. Keep you chin up high!!

Thanks for your thoughts/prayers everyone. It realy does mean a lot. It's amazing how you hear about it happening to other people but never think it could happen to you.

It was a typically thursday morning and I had gone to our garage to turn on the air compressor. The tires on my motorcycle were low so I was gonna air them up before heading to work. Since the compressor takes a little while to 'warm up'. I went inside to watch tv and get on the computer for a few minutes. About 5-10 minutes later, I smelled something burning so I go to our garage and I find the air compressor and the wall where the compressor is, is on fire. I immediately run out side to get our water hose and at the same time I was calling 911. By the time I got around to the garage with the hose the fire had basically already engulfed the whole garage. I tried moving my bike but the handlebars were locked so I ran to get the key. As soon as I opened the front door, smoke had already filled our living room in that short amount of time I was outside. So I walked across the street, sat in out neighbors yard, and started making the necessary phone calls as I watched our house and my motorcycle burn down. I couldn't go inside to save anything, not my wallet, not one pair of Oakley's, not any pictures, anything. We're still waiting to be let in the house since the fire department is still concerned that the whole thing will collapse.

It's amazing how people come together in a time of need. Aswe waited and watched for about 6-7 hours, many or our neighbors came by and said if we needed anything to stop by or let them know. One even said he had to go to work, but the key to his house was under his door mat and that if we needed a place to relax or get something to east that we were more than welcome to. Also, I was touched when 2 members of my staff ast work, (joeybravo included) chipped in and bought me the first pair to the new collection. A pair of custom gascans- polished black/black iridium polarized/chrome icons.

Thanks again for all your kind words everyone. I'm sure it'll all be ok, its just the whole 1 week-month after is the hardest.

Also here's a video of the house from one of the local news stations here.

Also, it's nice to hear that people came together to help you out in your time of need.

The afternoon that I read about this I was just updating my insurance policy. This year I've put the collection on the policy and that means I have to list every item of value I own. Everything was going great until I got to the box marked "domestic pets". I have three cats and while the cost of getting them was about US$5,000 total, I could never begin to put a value to them.

Not sure what I'm trying to say here but it certainly made me think for a while yesterday.

WOW bro, is all I can say after that video. You are lucky man. That makes me certainly re-think my compressor location/setup. Mine too is against a wall where it could cause major damage if that happened. I may try to find some sort of fire blanket or insulation to place on the all around it just in case...Man that is horrible.

Ditto to what everybody said, except:

Now lets have a moment of silence for the lost o-matter and x-metals!
Actually your X-Metals are probably still there, minus the lenses, unobtainium & screws. Maybe when you get some time to chill on your hands, you can start working on a lil' ''Ollie-style'' project (i.e. his Mag Switch)...meanwhile, take advantage of the support you are being blessed with, and keep your chin up.

When you lose a life, it doesn't matter how much money you could throw on eBay...it just can't be replaced. So focus on the positive side of this: nobody got hurt.

We're here for you man.

Lionel, that's so unfair. I can't imagine what it must be like to lose so much in so little time. My deepest sorrows, for you and your loved ones... And your collection.

sorry to hear about your loss lionel.

i am a firefighter and see a lot of losses during the times of fire. just remember, you can always replace sunglasses, just not your life, or your families lives.

we try to salvage all we can for the homeowner and the order goes as follows:

1) people
2) pets
3) memories that can not be replaced like photographs and photo albums,etc...
4) material possession last (since these can be replaced - most of the time)

i cant imagine the loss you have with your property, your motorcycle, sunglasses, etc.

i wish the best for you and your family and a speedy recovery from your loss.
