What do you suggest for a carry-on size bag? I've got an O pack 2.0 which I use as a day-to-day bag but it’s a little small for carry-on (as in, I can get away with something bigger so I might as well have something bigger) and the one main space with a tiny top pocket and two side pockets doesn’t really work too well (especially as the one of the side pockets has an X metal soft vault in at all times and the other has two small soft vaults at all times). Although I only fly a couple of times a year, I do need something for three-day trips (the O pack’s too small for those) and would like it to be suitable for carry-on too.

Any suggestions? I’d be open to either backpack style or messenger style or just handles and single shoulder strap. Cost far less of an issue than availability.

what about the small rolling duffel? It is sized to where it should fit in an overhead, and it is pretty nice with a ticket pouch and magazine pack on the front..

That does look pretty sweet and the dimensions should work too: the bag is 56cm x 36cm x 23cm and maximum carry-on size for British Airways is 56 x 45 x 25cm. It's even better for LOT Polish airlines: their maximum is 115cm total height x width x depth and that bag is exactly 115cm total!

I got one and was impressed with it's features. Should be a cool option for you.

Bugger. That bag's been discontinued. Replacement seems to be the Oakley Small Rolling Luggage. Anybody know that one?

I've had both side by side. I actually prefer the small rolling duffle...it seems to have more features and such. My Vault had both, but I think the duffles are gone.

Go the Small Rolling Bag.

I found the zips on the Rolling duffel where always jaming and making it hard to open on the front pockets, no problems on the Rolling Bag, fits as cabin luggage no problem and has heaps of space.
Plus the Metal name tag is worth it alone.

Picked up the small rolling duffel at a Vault in Seattle for about 60 bucks last year. Have only used it for the trip home but I did like it. Currently my favorite is the Red duffle... It seems to be the perfect size for short travel and/or the gym - or whatever.

I recently bought and used the Heavy Payload Duffle for carry on. I thought it was perfect for a short 3-day trip. Though something like the current 16 Gallon Tank luggage might be the best bet for most people, I tend to prefer duffles over any other bags/packs.

I also have an SI duffle bag and combined with either my Icon Backpack or my new Kitchen Sink, it would be perfect for 5-7 days no problem, including a laptop and more.

Did they change the design of the Small Rolling Duffle at some point? Cause that's the bag Dawn and I have and it looks just a bit different from that pic.

Regardless, I love this bag. It's dimensions are exact to the requirements of most airlines' carry-on restrictions. I refuse to check in baggage unless it's absolutely necessary. I trust these airlines about as far as a two year-old can throw em.
For me, it can hold up to a week, maybe week and a half worth of clothes and travel material. Usually I take this, and my Cinch Pack as my two carry-on items. So far it hasn't failed me.

The small rolling luggage is a great carry on - small pouch for bringing your own water, enough cool zipped places inside to keep like articles together, plus a small dop kit buttoned into the bottom, also can be used to get a wet bathing suit home.

One miss is the small ticket pouch on the removable magazine bag, it is too small (not wide enough for a real airline ticket in the jackets provided by the airlines. Weird that it wasn't picked up during design, but you can convince tickets by themselves to fit in there... would've been neat to flip your whole itinerary's worth of tickets in a jacket right in the pocket provided.

I use the magazine holder as my laptop bag - it's big enough for the MacBook Air. You wanna see heads turn between the bag and the MacBook Air? Nice touch as a carry on!

I ended up getting the small roller bag. It is by far the best luggage I have ever owned. Pity that they have discontinued the large roller, otherwise I'd be getting that too!
