IMHO G30 is the best all-around cycling lens, period. Not originally designed for cycling, but who cares... This supposedly low-light lens is remarkably competent in bright sunlight. Five-hour rides in the Texas sun are no prob; no headaches. BTW, cyclists need to SEE -- so no, no, no to dark lenses, even on bright days. Wear your black or blue iridiums and try to pick out potholes and grooved pavement at 30mph under an oak canopy at noon on a cloudless July day... In cloudy or mixed conditions only VR28 comes close (actually very close -- it's my next favorite). Haven't used either at the beach or on the slopes -- probably fine for overcast days and headachy on sunny days when reflections can more than double the incident light. Then it's time to pull out the black or blue iridiums!...

The persimmon_g30 is better wen it comes to increasing the contrast,i'm 100% sure that its so,because i have also the g30 and in cloudy/overcast conditions, the persimmon_g30 its a must have lens, the green looks more bright, simply superb for bike riding, and in the woods everything looks more sharp. If u can try a pair with persimmon_g30 and u will find out that im right.Yeah its true that u can wear G30 even during bright sunlight but for that are other lenses so for increasing contrast in cloudy/overcast conditions i will defenetly chose persimmon_g30 :D

Crosshair Brown Chrome G30 Iridium

I must admit these Sunglasses have improved my Golf game by at least 7 to 8 strokes. I usually play early morning or late afternoon. The contrast of the G30 is Fantastic! I prefer my C-Wire Glasses with Tungsten Iridium lenses for Bright Beach days. All in All I love my G30 Iridiums, they do exactly as advertised, Low to Medium Light. Go get Yourself a pair, you won't be disappointed!

I'm not impressed. It's in between VR28 black iridium polarized and persimmon. The VR28BIP offer better contrast while persimmon is brighter for low light. It's not bad all conditions len, just not as i would aspect it to be.

Just got a set of these lenses for the Half Jacket XLJ. Bought them specifically for golf, but found I like these better than the standard dark lenses even for general wear. If you're used to the darker lenses, the pink-ish hue takes a little getting used to when you first put them on. The contrast enhancement is awesome -- especially in the greens and yellows. You notice the difference when you put them on, but the real difference you'll notice when you take them off. Wear them for a while and then notice how dull everything becomes after you remove them.

Absolutely love these! Great for road biking in varied light, also awesome to just wear around when it's not too sunny. Once in a while I strike out with these if I'm out on the bike all day and it really brightens up, but even in fairly bright light, they're passable. For their intended use (30% == medium/flat/low light conditions) they're perfect.

This is a really nice lens, got it on a pair of Juliets from eBay and they look amazing. orangey purple colour. eyes can be seen through the lens from the outside, but only very faintly. if light hits it or you are more than 15 feet away you wouldn't be able to see the eyes, so fairly good mirror effect.
This lens brightens everything up, the first time i put them on i immediately noticed the difference just looking out the window. i then tried them in the dark at 8pm driving home. there's no difference! they don't make anything darker, but stop the glare from headlights and streetlights and such, so make driving a more enjoyable experience. even walking down the street looks better, especially on a cloudy day... you'll forget how miserable it is... and notice how boring everything looks when you take them off. Great lens!

This is supposed to be a "contrast" lens but it barely qualifies as such. It's an okay color for road cycling and just terrible for mountain biking. On the road, picking out differences in asphalt texture works moderately well. On the trails, everything seems to blend together. The rosy-pinkish color doesn't do anything to help identify tree roots, ruts or shallow drop offs when you're on dirt. At first, I just thought that's how it was supposed to be. Then I got a set of truly brown lenses and suddenly started seeing all the obstacles I was missing before. VR28 turns out to be a much better alternative for both road AND mountain biking.

Awesome contrast lens. Designed specifically for golf, these work well for this purpose. Depth perception is greatly enhanced on the course, as advertised. Almost similar to a polarized lens, in that respect.

Weak bluish-purple iridium mirror though, and eyes are very visible when wearing these under all conditions.

Based on its range of applications, unique color, and excellent contrast, the G30 lens deserves five stars. On overcast days the lens provides adequate but not excessive protection, and even though it isn't best suited for brighter conditions it still helps reduce glare. Likewise, the color shines with a purplish aura, yet the lens doesn't share the exact same characteristics of most iridium-based hues. Combine these factors with excellent contrast and you'll defintely want to add this lens to your collection.

High contrast takes a little adaption if you wear dark lenses. But good as it tends to sharpen far view. When you wear these it's like you have an Eagles eye view of the world kind of. Making them perfect for sports that involve good eyesight like motor car racing, driving, golf etc.On the downfront not the most appealing looking lens. Definate perfect lens for recreation and sports but not fashion.

Awesome lense. The G30 base tint is my favorite beside Titanium Iridium and VR28 Polarized (I prefer contrast boosting lenses). The blue mirror is a nice addition. Well - like the most lenses with a additional colorful mirror you may see some ghosting.
But the difference to lenses like HI Yellow, Ruby Clear and Gold Clear is, that the G30 lenses can be used on sunny days and that they are made for the outdoor useage. And in the sun the ghosting is not noticable, you only realize it when the sun is in your back.

A great lens for those mid to low-light situations. I find them great around the early evening. They have a very "light" feel to them. You don't ever feel like you are wearing shades. Very cool.

I wear this lens set when I am shooting. They block just enough light so I am not blind but they also let in enough light to highlight my intended target. They also seem to make treelines very crisp to help me see my target. I wear this lens on a regular basis. One of my favs!!!
GREAT FOR OUTDOORS.

Also use this lens for biking - really good when you are not sure about the weather - good for very low light, overcast, and can even cope when the sun comes out - also has a very agressive look - especially in polished Juliets!

I love this lense for when I'm biking. Just enough contrast to help out, light enough to be worn in low light or the shade. I've noticed drastic differences in what's labeled G30 though. My RJ's have a beautiful purple reflection on the outside. A lot of the G30 lenses in our store, and especially the HJ lenses, don't seem to have any iridium coating at all. If you're going for this lense, be sure which one you want and make sure that's the one you're getting.

This is a beautiful lens perfect for those not so beautiful days. These are perfect for the spring and fall when the sun is pretty mellow.

One of my favourite set of lenses....Great in cloudy/overcast conditions but not redundant in bright and sunny conditions as do some other Fashion Lenses...Had them installed in my Carbon Ducati Juliet frame and has never looked back since.....loved the rosey / pinkish tint when looking through them and the surprises it holds when looking from the outside under different light conditions....It may seem reflective and bluish out in the open sun and see through, pinkish/rosey colour when indoors.....highly recommended!!

I have this lens installed in my first gen Plasma Juliet and I would say arguably one of the best low light lenses out there. You have to see it in person to appreciate it and actually wear it.
jumpman73 -
These are pretty normal. I like to wear these when I'm dressing more conservatively. I just recently wore them with a suit. They are nice lenses that block the light adequately. Not my first pick of lenses but I have a pair so what can I do but sport them.

i love these.
great all round lens...except for those extremely sunny days. but that's what i have a black iridium lens for *shrugs*

G30 lenses are really great on cloudy or overcast days... wow, great contrast with these lenses. everything just seems so pleasant with these lenses on. the blueish mirror adds a unique look to it... sort of reminds me of a lighter version of VR28 Blue Iridium.

A superb lens for great lower-light conditions and contrast. Also, a great-looking, unique iridium (?).
x-metalman -
Have these as an extra lens for my Juliet, and I must say when I first saw them, I hated them. Then I tried them, and man! Increased contrast, is an understatement. MAXIMUM Contrast is what you really get. Wear these on a cloudy day, and after awhile you'll think it's a beautiful day out. Just remember that it's not before you take the glasses off.
addicted2o -
tried them on a juliet and i liked them immediately...great for low light conditions...gonna find a way to put them in a penny frame

As I understand it, these were intended for Golfing, hence the G in the name. The 30 refers to transmission factor. I have these for my Half Jackets as a low-light alternative to the Ice Polarized lenses. When it's overcast, raining, or just not bright enough for darker lenses, these are perfect. Supposedly, they increase the contrast of white (golf balls) on green, but I noticed more of green on grey (tree lines against the sky). These lenses probably increase your maximum vision range a bit. People at work would laugh when I wore these in a storm, but when they tried them, they realized they make everything easier to see. For anyone who's used brands other than Oakley, these are very similar to the famous Maui Jim Rose lenses.

G30 is one of the low light lens options. It works well with evening into dusk, and can also be worn during bright sunlight although isn't meant for that. I find this is perfect for an evening stroll or bike ride.
Tut -
The best way to describe the Iridium of the G30 is to compare it to the bottle of soap bubbles your kids play with; it's transparent, but has a rosey color with a tint of blue from certain angles. I just got this pair of lenses for cycling, but haven't tried them out yet.
sketchmind -
I have these in a pair of white crosshairs and I love them. I have light astigmatism and problems picking out detail in different light situations. Especially snow glare.

These help out tremendously, especially in snow for picking out detail. They are excellent low light lenses, which is fantastic in the evening where the light varies. Perfect for biking and being along trails.

No headaches, and visibility. I can feel that they block out harmful light but still allow me to see. Love them.

this particular lens is something I do wear if I plan on having my glasses on until dark falls. great for low light and not as dark if ur in a club or even watching a movie. I have nothing negative to say about it but the tint dont appeal to me as much
Chris_Coy -
I just got these lenses for my Crosshairs off of the Vault site. I just scratched the Ice Iridium (which I loved) but no longer available. Silver matted frames with those were a great match BTW. Anyway, the G30 is a great lenses - with these stipulations.
1) Not great outside for a clear sunny day while driving/riding through a desert, or other bleak landscapes.
2) Best for green (or more lush) environments and/or partly cloudy or cloudy days.
3) Perfect for golf - that's a given – and the slightly pinkish color and the transparency were also fine for me
4) If you’re looking for more of a mirrored finished or all-around lens or something a bit more masculine-colored – this won’t be the lens for you.

I agree with Madman - top lenses for cycling. Great for long rides and a variety of light conditions. Have mine on a pair of Half Jackets. It is relaxing to be able to see details as well as with these babies. As a collector I also have Light Blue lenses to fit these needs.
Ed -
See the world through rose-colored lenses... literally! The pinkish tint is quite pleasing and works well for almost any light condition from overcast to sunny. The bluish mirror gives the lenses a somewhat violet appearance.
