I've always been a fan of art in any medium, which explains my love for Oakleys from 1993-2004. This thread is for all to post outstanding works of art, whether it's by a specific person or a consumer product that you'd consider a work of art.

One of my favourites is Guy Laramee, a Montreal-based artist who is known for his landscape sculptures made out of thick books. He does amazing stuff (not just with books but old oil barrels as well) and hope to get at least one of his pieces in the next couple years. Some examples of his work:

Awesome!

Another one of my favorites is Vancouver-based Taka Sudo. He is especially known for using newspaper as his canvas, and the use of vibrant colours really makes his art jump off that canvas. A lot of his art feature animals, but he does human subjects from time to time. Some examples of his work:

Most of his pieces are relatively inexpensive at less than $1k for larger original works.

That's actually not bad. The thing that turns me off of most art, is the fact that you end up with a print. The one real piece I have is a woodcarving by a local artist. Not famous, but it of course has to be the original.

Would love to see that carving if you ever wish to take a pic of it. Woodwork is an amazing skill. Some artists have done crazy stuff with it, with one of my favourites being Venice's Livio De Marchi. He's known for craving 1:1 cars out of wood. Some examples of his work:

All of it is amazing stuff. The books are very cool and those wood carvings are pretty impressive.

Taka Sudo has a graffiti style to it. When I was big into shoes, I wanted a Dave White (a UK artist) sneaker print. He has a unique graffiti style to all of his work. He is a big sneaker fan and has done several Jordan and Nike paintings.

A couple of years ago they did a limited run on several of his sneaker prints and one that I really wanted. I got the full size canvas print and had it had finished too.

Bruce D. Mitchell is an FX guy that also makes some awesome masks/helmets. His work is amazing, so check them out here:

Cool, I like the contained in the book concept.
I kinda dig street sidewalk art and the camo art:

Trench Art has come back into view for me since one of my old neighbours recently passed away (he was a retired Canadian military vet), and he was somewhat a collector. Trench Art is made from things such as artillery shells, such as these were:

Are they usually made while in the field or from salvaged things

Usually in the field by soldiers, but there are also pieces just done by talented artisans.

I've followed the work of PES for a while since he made Western Spaghetti

and it seems he's mostly been doing commission work for commercials, but he finally released another short.
