Eyeshade and RazorBlade Re-release
The good folks over at Shade Station have release an interesting bit of news in video form. 2014 will bring the re-release of the Eyeshade and Blade for the 30th anniversary (technically the Blade was 1986, but I won't complain).

***EDIT***

The video has since been removed, but the pictures were saved and presented below

Nice, but I'm on the fence for these colorways. I mean the previous re-release had way better colorways like the red/fire Eyeshade and matte clear/ice blade plus the heavy hitters with the Stpl Eyeshade and Razor. Oh Oakley...

I'm guessing they're just playing it safe. Certainly a risk with models like this. It would only sell worse to add weird colors on top of it. Seems like they're keeping true to the original colorways.

Plus its only the beginning. There could be more adventurous colorways further down the line.

I really should snag the black/fire RazorBlade, as it was my first pair back in 91'. The big issue usually is distribution - how easy is it to obtain a pair!

That will be the question.

Wish they'd issue a violet lens to go with that seafoam green Eyeshade.

Yawn....who really cares. Get to the zeros already. Expenses were done already, and the coolest eyeshades were the staple tennis ones. You want to create a stir? Release the zero line....with New corporate. Red and blue and emerald iridium for the 0.3's. I would buy 10 of each....so would a tremendous amount of people. In the meantime ...zzzzzzzzzzz

Is it just me or are those actually Blades rather than Razor Blades? They seem different, especially taking into account the details of the Razor Blade 2005 re-issue. Despite the triggers, it being Blades might come closer to explaining the 30th anniversary thing.

The thing that throws me off with the Blade re-issues are the 2010 releases such as the STPL. I'm just going off of memory, but those have labels that say "Razor Blade" but are decidedly different than the ones released in 2005, so the assumption is that it's mislabelled.

I don't think distribution will be a big deal. I atleast think they will be able to be easily ordered from online. The only thing this release is doing for me, is that it makes me want to put the STPL Eyeshade and Razor on my hitlist. Trying my hardest to resist as I already can imagine how much of a pain in the butt they would be to find MISB.

The 2005 releases were all new, and upgraded to modern specs. They were certainly RazorBlade, having a modified Strike lens. The STPL was a Blade, and these seem to be from the same mold, as do the Eyeshades.

It wouldn't surprise me if the retail is 250. Over 200 for sure.

The seafoam/white/grey Frogs would look really close to the 4-legged pair released some years back. But then again, so many Frogs already look like previous releases. Oh well ..............

Yes, but the logo color is different. Totally justifies it.

The prior re-releases of Eyeshades and Blades seemed to run at a $250 price tag, so I would probably expect these to come in at around the same. Who knows with some of the pricing approaches as of late...

I would have to say, yes. As to how limited, I'm not sure. Could be 150 units or tens of thousands, but only in a limited run which won't be around the year after.

Brennan2x...I'm with you Bro! Bring on the "Zeros" with a new 0.3 in mind! My all-time favorite, and most definitely the most radical in all that is "Oakley." They could easily come correct with a new version...let's say an X-Metal vibe, and some emerald or orange iridium, is what I'm seeing in my dreams! Thoughts anyone?

Personally I would like to see all re releases in the style of the stretchline razor blade. Update the tech while keeping the original flair. There's a reason these originals aren't for sale anymore. I wouldn't even want a topcoat or romeo if they didn't attend to the issues they had. That said, premium iridium Zeros. Yes please.
