Hi, I'm new to the forum, and I'm still getting used to the features. I did try the search feature before posting this question, which I'm sure has been asked before. I apologize for my ignorance in advance, but I've read varying opinions on whether or not the Pit Boss II is considered Elite.
As I have read thus far, the Elite logo is missing off the PB II, and for this reason, it might not be considered part of the Elite line. As I understand it, Oakley never really classified it as one of the Elite line, and were rather vague with the description of where it falls. Paying that kind of price tag, you would hope that you are getting something a little extra special, but I realize price is not really a deciding factor.
I see that here, on O-Review, it is classified as "Elite" so I was wondering if this is actual factual or just classed as so, because it really is undecided. I have a pair of PB II, and have been able to handle the original PB that a friend owns. I can see just subtle differences between the two frames, although, as I have read the comfort factor on the PB II is much better. Is there a definitive answer, or is the jury still out on this? Any insight into this would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Ive got both and in my opinion the PBII is a great pair of glasses however the build quality to me seems far lower than the PBI. For alot of people the II is more comfortable than the I i think thats mainly cos its lighter. I was fine with the fit and weight of the PBI i prefer the extra TI and the lack of unobtanium. so it disappointed me that the PBII still had the big price tag despite its cheaper feel.
You're correct in assuming that it's classified as Elite here due to being undecided. Officially it's not, but putting it in something like Active Wear triggers my OCD about things not being neatly in containers.
Thanks to both of u. That does help clarify. If they were not going to be elite, then the should have probably named them something different, and dropped the price a bit. Just my opinion. It seems like Oakley may have been a bit undecided as well.
If I had to guess, one group made the decision to discontinue the Elite line, while another was preparing to make the second Pit Boss. In the end, things didn't line up, but it was still released in the only way it could.
Dann, that sounds very plausible. So I guess my quest for an elite continues. Guess I'm just going to have to start looking for a pair of C Six. Wish me luck.
Wow never thought the change in icon would make the pb2 look a lot better.. The edges of thenicon matches very well the edges of the plate.. Hope they did it this way...
I have to agree. The icon change makes the PB II look outstanding! It's a shame they didn't do the elite O. It really looks like it belongs there. By the way, Dann, what am I looking at? I know it's a PB II, but I mean is this someone's personal rendering or is this an official Oakley concept mold?
Seeing the PB2 with the Elite Icon changes my whole perception of it.
The Way the eclipse icon looks on the frame is what totally kills it for me as it looks like an after thought
Well clearly it was!
This the major reason why i never intended to buy one after buy two PB 1's
had it come with the elite icon i definitely would have bought one..... the balance looks so much better.
Anyone has an idea on how to safely remove the side plate of the pb2? The orbital plates are easy since there are screws but the side plate i can not figure out. Hope some one can help.. @drchop
