Hello,

I am looking for some new sunglasses from Oakley. I had the Half Jacket 2.0 XL (Dark with Grey history text), but they were a bit too much for wearing to work or just outside for general use. Also, I did misplace them and they are gone. What I did absolutely love about them were the G40 Photocromatic lenses. Any idea if any new lenses are similar to those?

I am looking for something a bit more durable and more corporate/work-friendly.

So far I narrowed the list down to Tailhook, Titanium Crosshair or Square Wire. Carbon Blade looks nice too, but I doubt it would fit my face right.

So any suggestions about going for any of them?

If I had to suggest one that was 1) an avaitor 2) durable 3) G40/rose tinted, MidwayUSA has a sale going on for the Ballistic Crosshair. It's a beast and has the TR22 lenses which are fantastic.

My only issue would be size. They might be a little snug, and the reenforced construction doesn't lend to flexibility.

Titanium Regular Crosshair would also be a very good option. I've had one of the original releases and they hold up well and are very light. They usually fit most head types as well.

The Tailhook is nice, has the new snag-free nose pieces, but might not be as durable as the others since it's rimless. Square Wire is not bad either, but I don't have any first hand experience.

Well the budget is somewhere in the range of 200 Eur and I really like Oakleys :)
I would not go for anything extremely rare or crazy, just something casual.

Was looking at Elmont too, but they seem rather flat and tall (I have high cheekbones) and I like some extra lateral coverage if it can be helped.

I've always been partial to square aviators (aka. navigators). In that regard, I like Plaintiff Squared, Deviation and Inmate. For traditional aviators, I like Wardens and the first gen Crosshair. None of what I like are available at retail any longer, but they are worth finding.

Out of the list you gave, the Ti Crosshair would be the one I favour; they are very nice.

I am waiting for the Gauge 8 L to be delivered to me. I've tried both the L and M and they for my high cheekboned face. Might be good for you too. I was looking at the Tailhooks too but decided against them for no big reason.

The Gauge 8 L are nice, they have a good base curve on them unlike the Elmont. Felt very strong too... reminded me of the Plaintiff Squared, which I have a 7 of; one of my go-to aviators. They have similar stems that allow for some give.

The older aviators are still my favorite (Warden, Inmate), but they don't flex/give. Crosshairs are nice too, but as mentioned, very snug.

The "Tail" Series are all nice, Tailhooks fit great, but the Tailback is my favorite in that series; they aren't what I would consider sturdy though. They're not going to fall apart, but the stems and frame are very thin as to be lightweight. They are very comfortable...

I would recommend trying on the Gauge 8 L.
