someone that is supposedly so new at ebay knew how to cancel bids, then do something outside ebay:

this was shady from the start...no paypal or c.o.d.'s when i requested. i would be very nervous if i was ever sending a check to this guy.

yeah, these days i won't buy anything if the seller will not take Paypal. it's just added protection. i've had to file a complaint through paypal once because the item i bought was in piss-poor shape. it took quite a while to get my money back, but at least i got it back.

yeah...paypal is good. i accidently press buy it nows when they are cheap only to realize they only accept money orders...and even if it is cheaper, it is more inconvenience getting a money order, going to the post office, etc.

do you know what the seller protection is on paypal? they tried to charge an extra 3.85 to me, the buyer, and i did not know what that was...

With PAYPAL, if the seller has a business account, PAYPAL charges them an extra 3%. Like a Credit Card Fee.

This is what happened with this auction.

The seller and I have been emailing each other and I asked him for a buy it now price. I told him I could come up with 1000 or 1200 dollars but I needed a week to come up with all the cash. I told him I would get with him Sat morining before the auction ends and let him know what I come up with.....I asked if we could swap if he was close because I was scared I may get ripped off becaue I have before I told him not to take it personally but I just wanted to be safe....who wouldnt.....then he emails me back and says...."Im gonna end the auction now and sell to you for 1200 bucks. I checked the auction and it was ended....but man this dude has got to be crazy. Im not gonna go through with this at all now......Its not even an ebay transaction now and im really gonna be screwed if it doesnt go through.....No a good situation ...Im not gonna go through with it

What do you mean. Why don't you just meet him, check out the gear, give him the cash then take home the product? He can't screw you over if its a face to face transaction, which seems what you were going to do anyway.

Well.......at least he cannot give you negative feedback now,so just think of it as an ebay learning curve.

so he hasn't replied to you with an address to meet up and swap..? well, maybe it's because the seller's really leonardo di caprio as his ebay id suggests.. :D

I'd say if he meets with you and the gear is solid - then good deal! Otherwise, this thing has sounded shady from the start....
