On the positive side guys, with the widespread availability now of ruby in the juliets, it makes the originals with ANY serial all the more valuable. It seems that most or a lot of oakley freeks believe the ruby juliet is a must have for the collection. It seems that the question isn't so much if you have one or not. It is the question of how low is your serial? How red or purple or yellow or orange is your lense? What is the condition? Do you have the original box? Now I think that the last question is huge, especially with how the serial on the box was discontinued at some point I believe. Does anyone else have skepticism about the occasional ruby M Frame you see? Some psotive reds can be mistaken in photos most definitely. I wonder if Total O's m frames on ebay look like that or if the picture was touched up.

Mario's lenses are the Ruby Quartz prop lenses though, aren't they?
These are not Ruby Quartzs...

I think it was the earstems that lost the serial number. The boxes always seem to have the serial on them, though no one seems to know if Oakley still uses that as a continuous count of how many of that product was produced.

I don't think Total_O touches up his photos. The pairs I've bought from him seem indentical to his pics.

guys.. what lens are these?

+red or ruby iridium? If it is a +red lens, then it is definitely better than rubies as it is really purple and goes to red with minimum oranges at the sides.

Weird.. that looks like a Fate, which only came with Ruby(which the right lens looks to be) but the left lense does look an awful lot like +Red. Wonder if those are even authentic(the frame colour looks a bit odd), or it could just be a very unusual lighting/angle situation that's causing it.

It's ruby, the chance of it being an odd or one-off is very unlikely, so no sense over-analyzing it based on hue variance.

They are authentic alright, just took a snapshot from the Oakley cabinet at the dealer's place.

Here's another shot, different angle:

Fate's have a very low curve, so it shows off more of the central colors and a lot less of the edge ones.

A comparison between first run Ruby (s/n 571) and 06 re-release Ruby...

Wow Todd, i guess that is why they called the older ruby j's "Juliet Black" cuz the frame is def. darker than current X-metals

I can't believe nobody noticed this. Todd B, your Ruby comparison picture is a little deceptive. The 06 model has half of the lens reflecting your white Priority mailbox. The upper half looks very similar to the 1st run lenses. Any chance of a more accurate photo? Thanks

337 Jamie Pie- tell me how you would like the picture taken and I will be happy to give it a whirl. I have no reason to tweak the outcome has I own both and nothing to gain by making one or the other look any different. I am in the process of moving to another home and has such not much free time but another member asked I do this, which was a super quick shot on the run has they say.

Ha, it was wasn't an attack on you, though I reread my post and I guess you can interpret it like that. The bottom pair is just angled so that you see the white box on half of the lens, which makes it appear less red, and like fire. The comparison would be much more accurate if the 2 glasses reflected the same color background.

Todd.. when you have the time. Pictures of your awesome Dark Juliet will be great. Pictures of you donning em in the sun, the house, etc.

I will look at those pictures and imagine that I'm wearing em! lol! You are lucky dude!!
