Damn, this is a nice watch.

Actually I'm not a fan of the oakley stuff beside the shades, but the blade allready catched me and this one.... man, it is awesome. But I think until I have enough money for such a watch a lots of years will go by...

Now oakley has to put out aggressive, detailed shades (x-metal !!) like these...

wow this one is so awesome... only thing I thought while beeing speechless is "why do the needles not have the same color as the frame?"

I wonder how "lightweight" this "lightweight titanium" is...
It also seems odd that Oakley watches are only waterproof to 1 atmosphere. Most expensive titanium watches I've seen are good to around 1000 ft. (deeper than you'd ever need, but a good measure of durability and overall quality). There are some watches out there good to 3000m. It seems that 330ft is (while deeper than almost anyone will go) short of the bar set by Breitling and others.

I've never really understood Oakley watches. They are not competing with the Adidas and Nike's of this world in making cheapo sports watches but they don't have the cachet of the premium sports watch brands like Tag Heuer and certainly are not on the same level as Rolex, Omega or Breitling. The fact that the TT is Swiss made is a HUGE selling point and closes the gap on the premium Swiss watches. It is shocking that anyone could even claim that the Swiss are not as good as we are lead to believe and even more shocking that they claim that America is behind the Swiss horological heritage. The generally acknowledged benchmark for watch movements is the Swiss ETA movement and it's no coincidence that the other famous movement, the El Primero by Zenith, is also Swiss. Japan makes good, high quality, low cost utilitarian watches for a mass market. A Swiss watch is a piece of art hence the premium.

The TT is a very handsome watch and certainly made me take notice of an Oakley watch for the first time. Not really my bag (I already possess a watch), but certainly one that should do extremely well. FWIW, I think Oakley watches were too cheap and dare I say, looked it (with some exceptions) - until now. The TT hopefully marks a repositioning towards the ultra high end sector.

Yeah but being here in Australia...I am expecting a significant jump in the prices as can be seen in the other oakley watch models here...as with the non-US pricing of Oakleys merchandise....freight charges + slight mark up i guess....

I am expecting around 1.3 - 1.4k USD for the TT when it gets released in AUS....I would need some time to start saving man!!

how is $1200 an awesome price on a watch? All it does is tell time.

I'm just thinking of how killer that Titanium bracelet is going to look once its on. When you look at it from an angle, you're gonna see the round holes and it's going to look SO AWESOME! Plus they look like bullets when you look at it face on.

Goodness, I want one and its going to be a looooong time before I can afford to get one! This will be my new watch!! (currently only have two digital Diesel watches).

I feel a mug for paying $400 for a pair of Oakleys...all it does is shield my eyes from the sun.

$1200 puts this watch in the realm of the Omega Seamaster, a well established luxury watch. Unless the weight is really amazing, Oakley's going to need to do better to compete with the Swiss brands.

I like that its swiss made. If oakley keeps this up eventually there reputation for watches will grow. I have a tag heur and all my oakley watches get complimented on way more. Not many people know about oakley watches and this surprises me because they all look awesome and are well built. I dont really like the last oakley watch, the saddleback so Im really happy with the tank.Cant really tell though until you see it in person.

Many wristwatch buyers want a look of refinement yet the industry keeps giving them the same, recycled ideas.
Damn straight.

I'm sticking with my Time Bomb for now, but somewhere along the line once I get a proper job with regular income, I'll be getting this. It looks fantastic!

That's a bit strong. I think the Seamaster is a modern classic, James Bond notwithstanding. Nearly 160 years of watchmaking experience versus 5-6 years worth from a company whose core business is sunglasses? That's the immensity of the task facing Oakley. Given a choice between the two models I predict that most, if not all will choose the Omega just because it is an Omega. Consider this: if Omega started making sunglasses and priced them in the same bracket as the X-Metals, would you buy one if you had to decide between that and a Juliet? Pricing it against something as established as the Seamaster is audacious but ultimately the market will decide.

I wouldn't assume that similar prices means the watches are necessarily targeted at similar people. You'll get people interested in the TT that would never even think about a Tag, or Omega, or whatever.

sooo nice! the TT looks more enticing every time i look at it. can't wait to see it in person, the watchband is gonna look bad*ss.

i do agree the TimeTank (and most other Oakley watches) are in an odd pricepoint... too expensive for other sportswatches like Nike, Adidas, or fashion watches like Skagen or Kenneth Cole; but not in the same level as Omega, Brietling, or Panerai. Oakley watches are somewhere in between... Hamilton watches are around the same prive, however, at the low $1000s the TimeTank slots nicely with some less expensive TAG Heuer or Oris. that said, as nice as some TAG Heuer or Oris are, they all look kinda sameish to me. there's just something about Oakley's designs that look so unique and one of a kind. i get comments everywhere i go when i wear an Oakley watch.

as for the Swiss Movement argument as opposed to Japan or whatever, i've been told these days that movement accuracy are up to par with each other, it's just that Swiss movements still hold a bit of cachet. i don't know how true this is though. for the record, there are/were other Oakley watches that uses Swiss Movements; Blade, Bullet, Judge, Saddleback, Torpedo.

anyway, can't wait to see the Time Tank in person! i'll really have to start saving money.

I think the Tank is an awesome looking watch, though I wouldn't trade my Omega Seamaster Pro for it. I like Omega's decent quality, but then again I can't really judge the Tank's before seeing it in person. Passing judgement based on previous watches, though, Oakley's got a long way to go to match Omega's stuff. Not saying that Oakley's stuff is not good (since it is decent for what it is), but they're still a rookie when facing a manufacturer that's been in the business for over a century. It really makes for an unfair comparison. That and they don't produce mechanicals, the true arena where a brand can make their mark in the world of horology.

It is surprising, however, that Oakley went quartz rather than sticking with kinetic. I would've figured they would've liked to compete with Seiko's Sportura rather than going after the more traditional Swiss companies (assuming that's what they're doing).
