Someone mentioned that the sunglasses sold at gas stations are even redder than the frubies we have now. It just goes to show how easy it is to make fakes look like the deep red ruby. Put it on a real Juliet frame and it becomes very difficult to tell the difference.

It is wholely likely that his lenses may indeed be fake due to his endless supplies. Just find someone who is willing to produce the lenses and cut them a good deal. All you really need is polycarbonate lens in a blue base (cheap!!)and then add hard coat and red mirror coat to make them tougher than uncoated ploycarbonate and you have a masterpiece. If there is any "suggestions" to assert that these are real, the mind really makes you think it's true. Ignorance is indeed bliss.

If real Oakley ruby lenses came with laser inscriptions, I would harzard a guess that he will not have that many to supply. Why? Because it means the person who was contracted to produce the lenses will have to approach another specialist to laser engrave the lenses. Come to think of it, since real Ichiro lenses also sell for quite a bit, why was it that he had so little of these to sell. Perhaps because laser engraving is a service too expensive to include for fake lenses and those Ichiros are indeed real.

I'm sorry but unless the source is revealed, my doubts will always be there. For those who got it from him, may I check if these lenses came with a box. I have been told that earlier replacement rubies (those which are redder than todays) had original lens replacement boxes as well as a pouch or styrofoam bad.

The laser test you're talking about is to test the alignment of the lenses to show that the orientation of Oakley lenses is such that they don't bend the optical line in 2 directions like inferior sunglasses do.

LOL James!!

Yeah I would like to know whether all the Rubies he sold came with boxes or not... or at least like Strake mentioned, the pouch or styrofoam..

Let's not condemn Joel without proof. I've never had any problem with him and though I think his stockpiling of signed Scelzi R2's was a bit of a liberty. He doesn't have to reveal his sources for his stuff and we shouldn't infer that he is peddling fakes because of it. What would be damning is if someone who bought a pair of rubies off him had them verfied by a bona fide source that they are fake. My opinion is that he's been stockpiling this stuff for years, buying at high prices and selling them even higher just to make a buck.

Here's my restraining order. I am not condemning him as a person for he could be very nice person. But the idea that he is stock piling over supplies of original ruby lenses is a little incredulous. If it were an original dealer, surely he would reveal it to those on the forum here who did him favors before.

I'm sorry if I'm a little edgey these days but I'm not in the best of moods because of a paypal dispute chargeback by a fraudulent buyer and now have zero tolerance for scammers or people who take advantage of other people's generosity. Clearly the R2 issue gave away his true colors.

The other guy on ebay eakaz is out of Singapore too
He's actually based here in Brisbane. I saw his listings for Singapore based items and sent an email to enquire about some lenses. "im helping my sisters boyfriend to sell, the stock is in singapore."

Now, call me suspicious, but I think he might be moving some of Joels items? He has a couple of Gary Scelzi items and Ruby lenses advertised.

Yes, Eakaz is a member here. He definately has some thing to do with Singapore. When my Shadow Head was up on Ebay, he sent his usual email trying to get me to end it early. He wanted to know how much shipping was to Singapore.
