The idea with the etching certificate was that it can be added to the purchase of a OCE gift card. The Idea was that people looking to buy holiday gifts but did not know what the other person wanted would buy it. Then the gift receiver could come in, pick out the perfect OCE sunglass then use the gift card to order it and cash in the certificate for free lens etching.

They were not supposed to be sold separate, or used with any thing other than cashing in the gift card on an OCE order.

I bought some polarized replacement lens for my Juliet and I saw this strange thing: the "polarized" etching is on the inside of the lens. Does anybody have a clue why?

Do you have a Fire or Ice replacement lens? It's pretty normal for those ones. Some believe it's on the polarizing filter. Here's a thread that addresses that:

Nice etching indeed. It's crazy how far the custom game has come. Go back just 10 years and the most amazing custom you can find is putting ruby Juliet lenses in a Polished frame. Now, collectors can do everything Oakley can and more.
