Hi, I have a pair of Eye Jackets (1st version) and a pair of Half Jackets. The Eye Jackets are broken now an earstem snapped), but I thought they had great coverage. I'm not impressed with the Half Jackets' coverage, though (light comes through from the sides and bottom).

I'm thinking about getting a pair of Monster Dogs, and I'm wondering what the coverage is like on them? I did a search, and someone said the Monster Dogs are similar in size to the Straight Jackets. I've never seen Straight Jackets in person, but it seems like they are similar in size the the Eye Jackets. So are the Monster Dogs similar in size, and more importantly coverage, to the Eye Jackets? If they're larger than the EJ's, that's fine, I just don't want them to be smaller and have worse coverage. Thanks for the help.

EDIT: I should add that the glasses have to sit a little farther than normal from my eyes since I have long eye lashes, and if the glasses sit too close to my eyes, my eye lashes will hit the lens. This obviously makes the coverage of any pair of glasses worse, but I have to deal with it.

Also, if you don't think Monster dogs will be a good choice for me, what pair of glasses do you think I should look at? My only requirement is that they have very good coverage. Thanks again.

Monster Dogs have been my personal favorites for months now. I am a huge Eyejacket and Straight Jacket fan, but the Dogs just work great, and for people with larger domes, they are awesome...

Why dont you go to an eyewear store and try several pairs?

I think most of us here are big MD fan and they do have good coverage. But so are Bottlecaps,Splice,Twenty's,Gascan,Monster Pups.....see i could go on and on.But i think its up to you and see which has best coverage and would look good at the same time.If you look at my collection i dont have M frame and Radar coz they just plain look silly on me but they have excellent coverage.

The Half Jacket I happen to find a very snug and uncomfortable pair of glasses with too small nose bridge and not a wide enough lens. The Eye Jacket was the style to have when I was younger with great coverage from what I can rem, but can't get back into the fit any longer. Now I have a medium size noggin. I can go small - Five 3.0, Gascan S. I can go Medium - Twitch, Juliet. Rarely do I go too large with the likes of Oil Drum or Monster Doggle, but the Monster Dog I find to be the best fit of all glasses that I wear. Enough to have 19 pair. I think that says a lot. Get out to you local dealer and give them a try. The coverage will be more than that of the Eye Jacket, and the fit will most likely not be as tight. They are more similar to the size of a Straight Jacket but even then i find the SJ too loose a fit. They will wear larger and I would say worry not about your eye lashes. Its a common problem i hear a lot at work and the styles you wore previously sit pretty close. Def give the Pups a try too if you find them to be just a tad too large. The Pups would fall closer the the EJ fit but with more coverage in a square lens.

I think MD's offer the best eye coverage for a non M-frame pair. I love them!

Thank you for all of your help. I would certainly like to check them (and other frames) out in person, but I can't right now since I'm at school and without a car. It seems kind of foolish to order the MDs without seeing them in person, and also seeing other frames in person so I can compare them all, but I'm not sure if I want to wait until summer (when I go home) to get these glasses. If the coverage is indeed better than the Eye Jackets and only second to the M-frame and Radar, I might just go ahead and get the Monster Dogs in Matte Black/Grey.

Which Half Jacket do you have. I love the XLJ lens one, and it's my daily pair pretty much.

I have XLJ lenses for my Half Jacket. I know some people think they have good coverage, but they just don't seem to work well for me. I guess this is where trying them on in a store would be useful.

I had a friend trying on a few of mine yesterday - looking for a pair with good coverage for his Harley.... He has the same eyelash issue.

He really liked the Crosshair and the Spike. The Spike provides excellent coverage - you might consider an Oildrum as well - big lens and new design.

To answer your question - the MD's are an awesome frame - one of my favorites - and provide better, or a bigger area of, coverage than an EJ or HJ IMO....

How about the Riddle? There's nothing I own, short of the EyeTrenchcoats that even compare for coverage

MD coverage is terrific. They're the same size as Straight Jackets in actual lens size and width and so on, but the frame is much bulkier.

They sit VERY close to the eye, though, so you may have to move them further out than usual.

Well I was able to make due with my Eye Jackets sitting a little further out than usual, so hopefully I'll be able to do the same with the MDs. I'm still not sure I want to pull the trigger on something that I'm not sure will work out. Does anyone know if glasses bought online direct through Oakley are returnable to Oakley stores (not online)? I know you can't do this with custom glasses.

Again, thanks for all of your advice, it's really helpful, and a lot better than trying to figure all of this out myself.

Technically, no. However, if you find a sympathetic O-store manager, and you're exchanging them, then probably.

But if you can go to an O-store why not just try them and buy them there in the first place?

Well I was thinking if I only wore them once or twice I could just return them when I go back home where I have access to a car. It looks like I'm just going to wait until I go home and then try all of these glasses out at a store. Thanks for all of your help, and if I do end up ordering the Monster Dogs online, I'll let you know how it goes here.
