But holograms improved the comic industry in the 90's. Oh wait.

Personally my thought is that the Petterson's are the ultimate in the Artist Series, they were hand painted originals as opposed to limited or mass produced.

Fair enough. The APs certainly had the limited aspect covered but lacked the "coolness" factor due to crappy art (at least that seemed to be the collector concensus when they were first released - don't know if the tide of opinion has changed).

I have hard time including things that have a production count of 1, but we've been back over this topic so many times.

Yeah, I can buy that. I started this thread years ago saying I think the Andrew Pettersons should be counted as part of the Artist Series. Nowadays, I'm onboard with it not being included.

Back then the Artist Series was young and didn't really have any "rules" to define what they series was. As more releases came out, it became clear the series had at least a couple common attributes: A box with art and some kinda applied printing on the frame. The APs have niether. In fact, the APs have more in common with the local artist-produced and hand custom pairs that was sold at O Stores a while back. Those certainly aren't part of the artist series, and I don't think the APs are either.

Some dude in Japan that was in line before you Rick...

Come to think I know you were the first here, but how many were sold before you got yours (roughly if you know) or were you really the first.

Ah yes I remember the day Rick came in and dropped those pics of the Brown Flores Gascan. It came out of nowhere right? There wasn't any advance word from Oakley or anyone on here. A lot of WTF! that day.

Just a mockup done by an artist. While I'm not loving the glasses, the bag and box are pretty cool:

I spotted that a week or two back as well. Would sure love to attend such an event. Though it may be more of a hope and dream to actually win a piece, it would be a nice to be there and entertain the notion until they all went above my budget. If anyone is going, feel free to snag one for me!

I suspect it shouldn't be too bad since it's an all-cash deal.
