135mm f/2 and 200 f/2.8 are not too much and still solid.

Hopefully I can soon post some nice stuff here too. Bought myself a Nikon D5200 this weekend, most likely I will get it this Tuesday. Really looking forward to it.

I have ordered two lenses with it, a 18-55 and 55-300 lens.

That's a very good camera you ordered !

Did you get the camera body and lenses separatly, or was this a kit ?

You'll soon want to add a fast prime lens ;P

Thanks Francois

It was a kit, I thought this would meet most my needs in the beginning.
They are two Nikkor lenses.

This is the exact set I ordered: http://www.foka.nl/nikon-d5200-18-55mm-vr-55-300mm-f-4-5-5-6g-ed-vr-dx

Hehe, we'll see how quick I am gonna need to get me some more lenses. In the end I am afraid there is no way not get some more lenses :$

I think for zoom lenses pretty much all my needs are covered, but for the best results there is no way to get around a fast prima lens indeed. I have been warned a couple of times... :D

A 50 1.8D or 1.8G is cheap and will give you such a good photo experience that you won't remove it from the camera :D
Believe me, I have 5 lenses and the 50mm is almost always on the D7000.

But start with what you have, enjoy it and then buy more stuff when you feel it's time to go further.

By the way, if you'd like to try some filters, you might want to try that ^_^

Had a quick look and they are not that expensive indeed. I think one might follow soon.
Received the camera yesterday, now time to play around with it.

Haha, I avoid it like crazy indeed.
My dad has a Sony A55, and always uses auto and auto+. I also told him that the pros advise not to use it. Problem was that he had learn how to make real good pictures in that case :P

Got some good news on Friday.... my Nikon lens was finally back from repair. Very thankful for having insurance. the repair bill was not small.

Ok now off to shoot some nice crisp shots again.

I am looking at some extra batteries and a 12V charger for my D5200. Of course, a lot of generic batteries show up. I am just not too sure whether to get a generic battery or a Nikon one. The price difference is huge...
Do you guys have any experience with those batteries? I read a lot of stories of them on the internet some people just think generics are great, while other say that there is a clear difference between them.

Jules.... there are are arguments for and against. In my case i've spent enough on the right gear so a little extra to keep it so won't kill me. So i stick with original Nikon Batteries.

I went ebay to buy a cheap sony battery, and even though it was a Sony original it was a grey import and originally destined for the Chinese Market. I put it into my Sony Nex-5n and it has become complete hit and miss deciding if it wants to work... with most of the time not. So theres $70 lost so i could save $50 .
And now i have to spend another $120 to get a proper working battery.

Often the other batteries will only charge on their own chargers too.

There are good and bad cheap batteries.
Good will just work fine. They will eventually be out of power quicker than originals ones.

Cheapest battery won't even be built with a charge cut security and might explode while charging them.

Exploding batteries, that doesn't sound really great...

About spending a lot of money on your stuffm, that's true. In that sense why not get best, I cannot disagree with that.

Well at least, last weekend I ordered a camerabag (Lowepro Flipside 400 AW) and a 50mm lens (Nikkor AF-S 50mm f/1.8g).
So you were quite right Francois. Actually after going out for doing some photography I found out that a Macro lens would be quite great as well. But they are quite expensive still. So that might wait for a while when I have saved some more money.

I've heard the new 50mm 1.8G and the 85mm 1.8G are great lenses...sharp, crisp and fairly cheap too which is a plus.

Never a bad thing to have a lens in the f/1.x range. The 85mm really shines though.
