Which do you hate more?

Scalpers ruin hobbies by pricing items out of reach of the people who can really enjoy them, while dumbass buyers support the continuation of scalping.

Buyers since everything would sort out if that was fixed.

dumbass buyers of course...They can easily do their homework and find out that the scalpers (caps, mustang, dave/c-ferr) are taking complete advantage of the unknowing.

Buyers, just like in any industry or collectables, buyers control the price and the demand. If more people would do thier homework, things would be better. For oakley that would mean a more difinitave curve of price vs value.

I hate scalpers more. While the ignorance of dumbass buyers would make anyone gag, most of the time it’s unintentional. Sure, they may not do their research, but I don’t think it’s on purpose. Perhaps they don’t know where to start.

Scalpers, on the other hand, have a single vision and it’s to rip people off. It’s intentional. And sometimes they hoard and don’t lower prices to sell at market auction prices. Even if no dumbass buyers bite on their highly overpriced items, they still keep up their ridiculous pricing structure. The items stay unused and unenjoyed until there’s no more interest in it. Everyone loses eventually. Truly disappointing. That's not even mentioning the Shill Bidding, a tactic that virtually all Scalpers use.

So a big Fuck Off to the Scalpers for ruining the hobby.

I hate scalpers more. They are criminals, the buyers might just be looking to get one thing and that's it. The sellers just profit, especially those shill bidder sellers.. They should be skinned alive and boiled in salt water.

I dont blame either, for the most part.

Natural selection, capitalism at its finest I guess.

I do however get pissed when something is for sale, and the seller backs out because of a better deal (still miffed over a flight-deck beanie on Ebay that got yanked just before it was to end, but again, the capitalist pig in me doesnt blame them)

I agree with their right to do it, just as I have a right to call them on their actions.

Sure, they have a right to do it. They're not violating any laws. But with that in mind, I still have major ethical issues with it. Especially for some, who it seems have connections to get hard to find items. And for others in my situation (isolated with no easy access to other purchasing options) it makes the situation sting all that much more.

If you were to blame anyone, it would be the buyers. It's a simple case of demand. Supply does not exist unless there is demand generated.

When the buying stops, the scalping stops. Although, just the image of these scalping leeches hanging out in front of their computers in their parents' basements really boils my blood. Especially the ones with bad shag carpeting!

It's one thing for demand/prices to naturally go up throughout the years, but it's another for it to be artificially inflated by scalpers. As with a lot of commodities, artificially increasing demand and prices increases speculation which, when the bubble bursts, leaves a lot of people holding the bag. Perhaps the dumbass buyers deserve it and would be fine if they were the only ones affect, but it turns out that non-speculators are affected as well.

I guess we can find some benefit in it; if the market for Oakley collectibles collapse, we'll get our pick of the best and rarest. We'll just have to pay a ton more than we would otherwise.

Although both are frustratingly part of the problem, I hate the scalpers more because there is intent on their part. Scheming bastards. Dumbass buyers are just dumbass buyers. It's like what do you hate more - naivety/stupidity or pure evil? (Which is the same point Oak made).

and also, the buying will never stop. the demand will continue to increase, just like the amount of accounts on the review. oakley enthusiasts are starting to come out of the woodwork and most new collectors.. like me back in the day, even sometimes now, will pay top dollar for something they really want. so its here to stay and will probably get worse.. hopefully more scalpers start scalping and there will be more competition for them and prices will go down since the supply will jump... hopefully

hahah that guy is a shoe seller too... the same thing goes for shoes. buying and selling is exactly the same for shoes. you wouldn't believe how much Oakley and Nike are similar. i know you don't want to hear that but the two companies were started in a similar way and share many of the same marketing tactics like the limited editions, artist series, and bringing back retros. i have found a lot of sneaker heads big into Oakley too and scalp just like they scalp nikes and jordans.

Hillarious. The scalper got scalped.
Too bad he'll probably turn them around for double and actually sell it to someone.

Yeah, there's been a assload of customizers popping up in the last year that have developed the capability of coating X-metal frames.
