Why doesnt Oakley use the Oil Rig more for its limited edition, signature and Artist series sunglasses? With a fairly large frame and earstem youd think theyd use it more. Not to mention, its one of the more popular frames according to some Oakley employees. What do you guys think?

I would have to say because it is not a neutral piece at all. You either like it or you hate it and it just flat out doesn't fit everyone that tries it on. Would be cool to see one for sure though, I mean they did a montifrio for crying out loud.

Yeah, i can see that. Id love to see one with some type of desigm. The only one i know of is the t pain and its nothing special...just white.

There's also the Nicky Hayden signature series. They aren't too fancy, but they're nice.

plus the special edition releases like the holiday pairs two years in a row. I agree though would be very nice to see more done with the oil rig. Personally its one of my favorite recent frames

I think the new style icon & earstem make it less of a canvas to do a print on. The few signatures there have been have been cool but I dont see a way for any kind of ornate print to look decent with all the angles and depths of the arm detail.

I dont thing the sublimation process could get in to all the little cracks on the Oilrig Stems.

Saw a pair of those on sleazebay from last years release for 349 BIN. Wha????

Those immediately went from the wife's dressing room to the tower downstairs.

I guarantee that the price was artificially inflated. All it takes is for one douche to to give them a ridiculous BIN, then other follow suit.

It'd be awesome if there were just a few people that sold them for actual value. Everyone else would have to bring their prices down...

Ive seen auctions for the holiday rigs bid up to around 225-250 most of the time. I have the frost blue but would like a pair of the matte clear.

I was pretty shocked to see the Holiday rigs getting actually BID up to 50-75 bucks over retail. I think I saw a fresh pair at the SoHo O Store a few weeks ago just sitting there in a tower.

You should have snagged it. Was it the frost blue or matte clear? Id like ti have that matte clear.

It was the Frost Blue. That's the only one I picked up as well since I'm in love with Chrome Iridium.

When they first came out i ordered the matte clear and the frost blue right away because i had to have them. I had no interest in the matte clear/text pair until i saw it in person and then it was my favorite of the three so now i have them all

I agree. I didn't like the text pair until I saw them in person, but by that point, it was too late. I dig the 2nd gen Rig, so in the future, I'll have to scoop up what ever pairs I see. I'm still regretting getting rid of both my T-Pain and my Matte Black pair. Rigs are too awesome to let go...

Maybe they're just posting the ebay auction to show off their collection.
