I heard it won't have compatibility with existing lenses. Hopefully that means the lens hooks are pushed out a little bit to help with peripheral coverage possibilities.
I was hoping for a Switchlock aspect, the biggest weak spot of the M Frame was the lenses cracking at the hooks. So let's cross our fingers they took notes during 24 years of service from the M.
The recent improvements they've made driving from the SI program have been nice. Slightly bigger Strike lens to extend peripheral coverage wrap, slightly taller to meet the cheek better, anti-fog coating, harder material in the nose piece makes it more difficult to fall off and less likely to take on the curve from the lens to keep tension over time.
The new Strike is NICE, I hope they carry the size and fit over, and have a Heater equivalent that's as big. None of that Range junk, what a weak lens that was.
If they're following the current trends, this seems like a shield Half Jacket 2.0 and switch lock is reserved for only the upper tier models. I did hear lens incompatibility but I suppose no progress can be made if they hold themselves to old standards.
I didn't like the pointy-ness much on the stems of the Gen3 and I don't like the pointy-ness on the Gen4. Just like the Gen3, I'll only be interested if it comes in Electric Mustard, haha.
I'm not sure I understand the design of that lens. It doesn't look like it will fit along the cheek very well, the lowest spot is out too far where all previous M Frame and Radar lenses are already scalloped.
I finally was able to try one on. If you take a tour at HQ, then will ask you to leave your O's at the front desk, but you still need to wear safety glasses, so they loan you a Crossbow for the duration. I really want to get a pair in Bone/VR28.
Why wouldn't they give you an M Frame or 2.0 or 3.0? Essentially the same pair, but the ESS has the current style of earsocks.
I know Oakley owned ESS before Lux took over (and there's still some cross-pollination), just seems odd you're at HQ and they pass out non-Oakley wear when they have a line of industrial/military safety glasses.
