Great buy, Oak. That just looks like a great little item. I'd love to snag one to replace some of my bent paper clips and whatnot that I already tend to fiddle with while working. Some serious justification to be made...

He said he's got another small project coming out soon (in about a month), so you have some time to think aobut getting one of his next ones. All I can say is everyone should have the pleasure of owning a Bathgate original, no matter what the piece may be. He truly is a talented artist.

Currently hesitating. Temptation is intense.

That is an awesome book. Great size too, roughly 19.5" x 14.5". I highly recommend you get it Francois. Don't make us peer pressure you.

I called Giger Museum
They sell it for CHF 1000 ( = € 918 = $ 1028 )
Well, I would have loved to buy it from there, but no, sorry, I'll save 200€ and have my brother buy it at the official Taschen store in Paris and bring it to me when he visits in a month. Thanks.

In any case, I'm buying it. Decision taken.

I took a closer look at the HR Giger Museum's shop, and there's some really cool things offered. For $4.5k, your final resting place can be this aluminum urn:

He did some fantastic things. I've watched some documentaries about his life.
Trully a genius. Tormented, insane, but a genius.

Got my first original. I've known the artist for a few years mainly because I used to frequent the metal shows that he played in. But he also has been doing more album artwork lately and decided to part with the original drawings. I had passed on the print since I know I wouldn't have bothered to buy a frame, but with these I know I'll get them displayed properly.

The Plague Doctor

I should have a few more arriving too. Then the expensive process of framing them begins.

That is fantastic! Congrats! So much detail and quality work when into that. I am continually surprised how much custom framing costs, but it is worth it to highlight key pieces.

I went with an amazon frame for this one since they had one brand with every possible dimension (this was an odd 16x17") , but I really don't like the plexi glass. Next pieces will be 22x22" and 23x30", so I want a better option. Going to check out some local framers.

Chris Bathgate announces his second small functional sculpture, a top in collaboration with Billetspin. Very, very limited and will be $900. Simply amazing. Makes me wish I was into tops:

But then you'd be spending $900 on a top.

Nice looking though. Just got two more piece yesterday, but I'll be heading to the local framers so see what I can do.

I'm not sure you need to be into to tops to have that in your collection. It looks awesome just sitting there.

It does look awfully cool. But those tops are so darn small, it's making that clicker just seem like a bargain!

$306 for a metal 22x22" and wooden 22x30" frame with matte. Suppose that's par for the course. And I supported local business vs Michael's.

For two big frames with matting, that seems like a good price. Looking forward to seeing the end result.

For the size that's about right, is that with the frame place doing the complete framing?

I got a couple bigger pieces completely done at a local family shop with all the fixins, but after seeing them go through the process I did a few smaller pieces at home just buying the pieces at Michael's. Michael's with those 40-50%+ sales on frames/glass/matts is hard to beat when assembling at home. I'm a fan of their masterpiece glass, real good clarity. It is a bit tedious getting things clean and keeping them dust/particle/fingerprint free while assembling though, luckily I haven't had to frame many things over 20".

That first original piece is awesome, also looking forward to seeing the next pieces completed.

It was all complete. Michael's quote was higher, and I almost had them just cut a mat so the outer dimensions would be a standard one, but figured I'd just give the business to a local place. I'm going to have them cut some glass too for the other frame above so I can get rid of the plexi.
