Another one of the many mysteries about Oakley releases. And as always more doubts than certainty. This mix of frosted and non-frosted frames was certainly intentional, as it is the only one of the three SUB ZERO that doesn't come with the photo on the external label on the box. For the distribution to be random, that is, more luck than certainty. Expectation when opening the box when receiving.

I swear this happened with my Madman Raw. They have only been worn outside once for a picture in sunlight, otherwise they have always been in the case. there is a scratch on the inside lens that you can only see from certain angles.

Got my initial two from the Undefeatable site. Frosted Red one came from them. Don't see any scratches at least with those. Blue should be in tomorrow.

From what I heard/read there were 5000 of each color made of the Sub Zeros. Since the non-frosted planet X was never in any of the promotional pics do you think it is a mistake on Oakley's part that they got out?
If you think it's a mistake which do you think is rarer, the frosted or non-frosted?

If you don't think it's a mistake do you think there are 5000 frosted and 5000 non-frosted out in the wild?

Just curious as to people's thoughts...

For me 5000 is the total of Sub Zero produced. So 1250 for each colors.

I think non-Frosted is rarest, but it’s my opinion..

Looks like damages to me on my fingerprint subzero, or is it normal the frosting is a bit rough? I’m thinking about sending it back, but if more of you have experienced this maybe it’s normal and I’m to picky?

This stain on the nosebridge looks like a fat stain, so maybe it can be cleaned - I saw these lines on a huge number of glasses - imo about 20-30% range has these parallel grooves

Thanks for answering. I must say I don’t like the look of it, it affects the look of the glasses in general, some frosted parts look ugly, not only up close. I’m thinking about sending it back. I get how it happened now, I just don’t get how this passes quality control (although I heard more about this subject).

Looks like you're right, they are limited but Oakley doesn't show any numbers like with the Collectors Subzero. I ordered them at the local Oakley Icon Store, lets hope they don't screw it up.

I saw that promo codes are excluded on this model, so I guess they're in some middle ground between LE and general release.

My guess is that they are starting off like how the Kato did. If I’m not mistaken, the Kato started off Limited/Exclusive and then they gradually became a “standard” release.

Mine came with a small pin head sized dot in the middle of the right side of the lens and a huge fingerprint and eyebrow grease… they guy that packed them up definitely wore them and then half-ass packaged them. As usual, 0 quality control. Just happy I received them? Hope yours were handled better

My guess is that it was a customer return. I've been told directly that they do little more than a casual inspection at most on returns before the go back into circulation.

Yep, that's why they became reavailable on the web site several days ago. Would be interesting to hear others experience.
