I just wanted to extend my appreciation of this site again and share this email to some fellow Ebay sellers.

Since I always link this site on every Ebay auction I posted, I gained a trust from this certain Ebay buyer who is reluctant to even buy on Ebay.

here is part of his email:

"i'm also reluctant on buying stuffs
from ebay because of authenticity of products but I
trust you otherwise because you are an oakley
collector based on the link that you provided and who
would want to be collecting fake ones."

Awesome. I really do hope we can attract new users and collectors and instill a little more faith into buyers from what we're doing here.

I noticed the site wasn't on Google anymore. I even tried a few name combos and still nothing.

We should use Ebay to strongly link this site....I have something in mind but it will cost a bit.

Its just my opinion but linking to Google and sending pms to people we think would be intereted in the site on Ebay seems a better idea then exposing the site too much; we risk less trolls and members who would wish too only sells here or make better fake Oakley.

(No offense to people who sell or are a retaillers, I was just thinking about members who would be here ONLY for a profit gain.

There as being a natural progression of the site until now, and of course in 5 years, this site will be probably HUGE but I dont know, I am for balance in everything :)

Just a tought.

Thats exactly my opinion as well Eric.
Ebay just seems to attract sellers who use this site as free advertising to just sell stuff, whereas google attracts genuine fans.

This site is like a garden. It's impossible to keep all the weeds out but carefully cultivating it over time will reap the best kind of rewards, A friendly, intelligent group of fans who want to give as much as they receive from the site. Thank god for google for steering me here in the first place but in some ways I do like the intimate nature of a smaller group sometimes. At least I can remember nearly all of the regular posters names.

We need to be in Google. I, and I'm sure many others, found it though Google and it would be crazy not to get in there for the risk of a few griefers. If we're not there then it'll be much more difficult for other hardcore fans to find us, and we want to keep the community growing, at least a little bit. I've linked my site to here, but as I also recently moved webspace, I'm out of the Google loop too, so I don't know as it will do much good.

Cal, I say keep linking. It shows where you're coming from and a level of trust if the buyer looks into it. And if we attract a new member here and there, that's great. We get someone not so good, we just try and keep them under control as we have been. I do think we need to be back on google though and I tell a lot of OPDs and SGH customers when I feel they may enjoy the site. I need to get cards with the logo/address printed up already for some of us to hand out when we're out and about.

yeah i say Cal keeps on linking but i agree that we dont want to over expose the site, cos yo never know if we get too big it might piss off oakley.
i and many many others found this place via google and im sure there are many other great people who will find it if we go back on google.
so lets do it.

Phil, im totally with the business cards, where do we get them so we all have the same ones?

Tick, you exposed yourself as a closet gardener, lol

pictures, knowing about releases before the public and most OPD's,
the for sale section.
us having like 10 times more oakley info than they have on their website.
i hope none of those things do piss off oakley but we all know how sensitive some companies can be.

I got on google the first time within a few days, by linking to the site from my other sites, but I haven't had the time to update them in a while. I will try to do that soon.

I like the smaller group, but hopefully we can still get a nice inflow of good people.

I guarantee that we've done far more good for Oakley than not. I'm sure they can appreciate a group of good will ambassadors like us spreading the O love far & wide! I know, when I worked for an OPD we sold like 8 different brands & I sold Oakley probably 20 to 1 over any other brand! You can't but that kind of commitment it has to come from the heart...an O shaped heart!
