I know we have few UK members but i thought it would be cool if we could also have UK prices on the site for eyewear.
would it be possible?

I'd second that Lex, and I'm sure us UKers could do a lot of the research for Dann too.

but than we should have prices in Euro and Yen and the other currencies, or you use a currency calculator

Well if someone is prepared to research that, then I am sure we could have that information.

Nice of you to volunteer to research all of the Euro prices current and old. Thanks Tom, look forward to seeing them on site.

a currency converter wouldn't reflect the true prices in different countries though, on average we pay in pounds what the us pays in dollars, well, roughly anyway

Good point, you're right Darren. It'd be nice to have a real record of the retail price the item cost when it was released in the UK/other countries. Valuable information.

Yeah I'm actually surprised at the retail UK price for Oakleys. After conversion they're more expensive than USA and maybe even AUS retail.

aren't you glad Dann gave us a choice to set our time based on our location and not use your GMT watch all the time. Same principle here.

The challenge of a real time converter is that the dollar vs other currency fluctuates

Think Australia will be more expensive than Germany.
If I would post German prices, shall I do it in Euro or USD?,
because example:

Juliet Carbon/Black Iridium
USA: $300
Germany: 349Euro that will be $415
UK: 225 GBP that will be 325Euro and that will be $386

you know what I mean?
Sorry when I don't understand the earlier posts, but dou you want to show the prices for the different countries in their currency or in USD to compare?

Australia isn't more expensive than Germany Tom.

Juliet: Au $449 which is roughly US $332 / UK 193 / EU 291

once again, not the same prices but in different currencies but the REAL prices for the glasses.
if we want to add lots of different currencies that could get very complicated and crowded, but Dann might have a way of making it easy.

What I did, was to search the retail prive for Germany and to convert it in USD to compare, nothing else.

What do you want?

looks like we are the expensiviest country, what is with "Plainsong"? there also oakey should be very expensive

What we are after are the official retail prices that each glass was sold at in the UK at the time of release. A simple currency conversion will be completely inaccurate for that purpose.

No one said anything about comparing prices between countries, just prices from other countries being listed.

ok, so why dont we just trial this in the next few posts.

my gold xx metals were £275.00 = $474.00.

now list the price from your country, along with the usd equivalent
of course some prices may differ as some fancy designer shops will try to wind up the price anyway.

wait, in fact, let's choose one item to start with, a new current item, and let's price it based on ostore prices as they are the best to compare

who wants to start with lets say a pair of spikes, chrome/vr28 for instance....

Slowly I want to understand, but why you don't look at some webpages with your currency? (eg. rubensmenswear) the easiest way to look at prices! And why others should know how much a pair of glasses cost for 5 years???
Do you have a problem with this way? why you need there UK prices at this page? you have the possibility to look through the internet and when you googling some glasses, you will find the prices too!

Erm, because we'd like to have the prices all in one place (ie here!) and thereby make the database even bigger and more complete.

Places like Rubensmenswear won't have prices on for discontinued and retro models, will they? Why do we want to know this info? Because we're Oakley nuts and we crave it. Plus it could be useful when bidding on discontinued pieces on eBay.

its like we have the same brain Tim, couldnt have said it better myself.

we are all about info here. I know I and the other UK members do not mind doing all the research so we can cram even more info onto this great site.

But for discounted models you can use converter, because there in Europe, UK/Germany/Suisse/... all the Oakleys are more expensive. So you can save more money.

Note: Scar and other discounted models are listed at rubensmenswear.com

What? We want to know the original prices for reference purposes. We don't want any conversions. We want to know the price an item was originally retailed for in a UK OPD when it was released.
