I have a vintage pair of crystal clear M frames. Today I had this great idea to change out the lenses. The frame itself cracked...broke...right down the middle by the "V" in the middle. I'm crushed. Any clue what to do here? Gluing is not an option..can I get a new cross piece somewhere without being ripped off?

I can just see Lee's face. Those vintage pieces get brittle. I know of no remedy but maybe someone one else does. I am sorry for your loss.

So does anyone need a set of ARMS? These actually have replacement arms with the single O in black...so maybe I should just look for an entirely new frame.

Can you hear TAPS playing in the background?

OUCH. Looks painful. That's why I use that as an excuse to collect "more" pairs: if you have enough on hand to never have to change the lenses you reduce the chances of the frames cracking.

There were certainly less plasticizers used in the old serilium type material, hence being susceptible to going brittle due to constant bombardment of UV rays over the years.

Regarding your dilemma, nothing you can do about it really, except hunt round on ebay for a cheap Crystal Black M Frame I think.

Well, that's what I'll be doing. I currently have Ballistics and an old Finger Print set...but I loved these.

On a better note, I can sell the arms and make some money back!

I just sold some old scratched Sub lenses for $50 (starting at $9) so the vintage crazies will probably snap them up. Course you'll see them a week later with alarge BIN, but such is ebay.

I saw an M-Frame (gen1) in an optician store yersterday. The lense was heavy scratched and they were near at a very high price for such an old piece : 76 Euros !!!
But if that can help, I'll try to get there and have a good price. Just tell me

Edit : I don't remember the color, this was something clear I think maybe a clear blue or something like that.

Well, that translates to like $150 USD...doesn't it? THat's steep for scratched lenses.

Yes, that's really insane, but I can try to get them at a lower price.
At least I can ask, that doesn't cost anything ^_^

What's the problem? glue the frame on a lens and nothing will happen again.
