Hi Rick, I am not sure of your preferences, but mentioning that this will be your toy, I'd go for the 2 door muscle Charger SRT8. If you prefer or plan on having the family to ride with you, and still the need the muscle, then the 4 door 300c SRT8 would fit.

Does this count?

I envy you grrrr

Thanks Romel. The more input the better. Dodge does not have a two-door version of the Charger, but the '09 Challenger will soon fill that void. I am partial to the 4-doors, but those Challengers do look evil. Four doors does make cruising with my homies much easier too! Thanks for your vote.

The only problem with the Challenger is that they are going to mark the crap up on the sticker. My Dodge/Jeep dealer add a 5K mark up to all SRT-8s for "market value adjustments" I can only imagine that the Challenger will be 2-3x that mark up. Just go find a Magnum SRT-8 and have a station wagon with balls enough to kill C-5 vettes (stock) and hang with C-6 vettes!

I'm picking up what you are laying down Nik! I can just imagine what the dealers will add on to the SRT8 Challenger in Calgary. $20k isn't out of the question.

I don't know what the time frame is but it looks like the Explorer is in for a big re-do;
I have stricken the Ford Explorer off the list. It just ain't making the cut.

Wow, George Jetson would be loving that thing. I always laugh when these companies roll out these Photoshopped concepts. We'll have to see what the real deal looks like, but I think I've moved past the Explorer in my mind. Very hard to backtrack.

yikes sorry my bad, the Charger SRT8 looked like a 2 door muscle. It's the Charger SRT8 for me, with the 300c on very very close2nd.

good luck on your new car Rick, whatever car you'd chose, there would always be an Oakley that would match the car =)

Haha! Really, the car will be an accessory for the Oakley's.

So, when will you do your final choice Rick ?

That's a good question Francois. Probably not for a few more months at least. If I can wait until July, the '08 models should be much cheaper since dealerships will be wanting to clear out their '08's to make room for the '09's.

LOL. well whatever car you decide to buy, i think its not too much to ask that you allow all those who voted for that particular car to have a little "spin" in it - you know, break it in for ya.

Hey Rick- just made a round trip to Dallas to pick up my Martin Logans in the SRT-8. 320 miles each way. On the way to dallas- early morning so kept cruise control at 73mph and was getting 22.3mpg and on the way back at dusk/night was traveling at 81mph and was getting 20.9 mpg all highway. In city I get between 13.9 and 15.2mpg depending on how much I get on it. Just wanted to throw so real world numbers out there for you.

I'm still shaking my head, but I guess it is all in your perspective...

At this point I totally agree you should definitely buy the Dodge,,, Just make sure you do, at least, test drive the GM first - or even better after - the Dodge...

And keep in mind this is all in good fun - cars are cars...

I avoid religious and political conversations because people tend to get pissy... I will avoid this discussion for the same reason...

I'm just throwing out digs for fun - but not to offend...

Won't you give your other nut for that ?

I can already see you driving that with Ichiro carbon/OO-blue Juliet.

F4ck all that.

Sorry...my vote goes to the SRT-8 Charger or SRT-8 Mag (The 08 model with the Hoodscoop).

Or...a Jeep SRT-8, rip the srt badges off and you've got one pretty bad ass sleeper. Although those Fighter Jet sized exhausts do give it away...

If the G8 lives up to the hpye it seems to have going for it, I can see it being a strong candidate. I've got to keep an open mind for now. If I had to pull the trigger today, it would be an STS. Yesterday it was the 300. Tomorrow it could be something else.

Anyone remember the 6000 SUX?

the 6000 SUX, an American tradition!
it's big and gives sh*tty gas mileage.

man... i remember those Ford Granadas, as well as the Lincoln/Mercury clones (Versailles and Monarch). damn, those were ugly cars.

The Hyundai Stellar was never sold here in the US, our first midsize Hyundai was the Sonata. we didn't even have the Hyundai Pony either.

Rick, i say if you can't get a 08 CTS, get a nice STS or STS-V instead... damn those are sexy sedans. i love fancy luxury sedans! *sigh* i miss my Benz.

STS-V is pretty much my dream car. They are in the upper-stratosphere of what I'm willing to pay for a car that will need to get me through several Calgary winters. If I was staying in Tokyo, a city with perfect car-weather year round I would feel much better about it, but Calgary streets are gravelled and salted more than 1/2 the year. Cars take a beating and I must remember this. Can I handle rock chips on my STS-V? Or, on any car for that matter. That said, if a nicely-priced STS-V was to present itself I am not sure I could resist. The less-powerful STS is available with a healthy Northstar V8 producing a very respectable 320 bhp and wins practicality points. Ah, decisions decisions. This thread has been fun, but I'm not sure it has helped me one bit!

Oh, and don't worry about the Pony and Stellar, you didn't miss much. I never knew those two cars weren't available in the States.
