Well, in the next few weeks I will be making my first Oakley watch purchase. The two designs that I really like are the GMT (which I can't find) and of course, the Time Tank.

Since I CAN find the Time Tank, I'm now trying to decide which one to get.I know that I'm going to get the Titanium bracelet, since that's one of the most intriguing features for me. I also know that I won't be getting the diamond face, because I'm just not that ballin' :D

Now, I'm a huge fan of +red lenses (emerald slate is my all time favourite lens colour, with +red polarized a very close second) and that love of colour is making me lean towards the red faced Time Tank. The thing I'm considering about that though, is that it makes it stand out even more, and maybe takes away a bit from the design of the band.

I'm also thinking the copper looks nice, but I've never seen a copper face in person. If the Titanium band was black/stealth I may not even ask the question, I'd just get that for sure! (One of my favourite watches to wear right now is a copper face Marc Ecko (Timex) watch that has copper and black accents on the bezel and a black band.

And of course, my wife says that the black face would look much more professional. And to a slightly lesser extent, the silver face. The other advantage to those, is that the band is much more of a prominent feature.

So, now I'm trying to figure it all out. Which way would you go? I looked at Dann's photo of all the time tanks, and it seemed like there was only maybe one red faced, and no copper face Time Tanks in that shot?

Decisions decisions decisions......

Well, coming from someone who just saw the stealth black time tank in person...too bad we can't get those! Soooo badass! Unfortunately they were never and never will be released from the factory. I have a red face, and a black face. The black is a little more professional looking in that it's not "loud" like the red one is. Honestly, I've grown found of the silver face...I like how it blends in with the Ti band, casing, etc...I've seen the copper in person, and quite honestly it's probably my least favorite of all the colors....I would vote for silver, black, or red...you really can't go wrong with any of those three. Enjoy it! Mine literally gets comments anywhere I go!

best option imho is take the black leather one, get another one with ti band, and swap!! Black leather has all black face and is nice. I did that with mine, but I know what it takes to get 2 tanks. Ti will hold up longer, so if you plan on it being a daily wearer, ti or unobtanium is best...

yeah, the black face with all black dials is sooo sweet. As soon as I can get a hold of a black leather one I'm doing just that!

Oh man, I hadn't even thought of doing a swap.......

I think I will leave the copper one out of the equation, since I already have a copper face watch.

I noticed that the black unobtanium is also full black face. Maybe I'll look at the red one, and at a later date, going with the black face unobtanium version, and then I could swap them out.

How easy/hard is it to swap the bands on the Time Tank?

Forgot to ask, Dustin, were you allowed to get any pics of the stealth time tank? I saw it mentioned in the thread, and the thought had me salivating. :)

I just got my first Time Tank today (thank you! - you know who you are) and I went with the Red face. My reason was pretty simple - it's what suits me and my style best. Dawn helped me realize that.
I was very much taken with the Copper face and almost went in that direction, but couldn't deny the fact that the Red suits me better.

So really, best choice is to go with what you think will speak more to you, personally. It sounds like you're pretty sold on the Red face and, in my opinion, it doesn't really look any less professional than the Black or Silver face.

band swaps are easy. I think it takes a 5mm or 5.5mm hex wrench and that's it...I switched my leather to a unob band also and it has been worn daily for a long long time with no problems or even marks. Very durable. The nice part is, the leather/unob black one is all black, and the silver ti has black dials, so when you swap the bands, the black unob/leather will compliment the black dials in the face on the silver one that comes with the ti bracelet. So cool...

that thing is SICK SICK SICK. Real stealth black, not the OG Ion/Bronze Stealth like on Timebombs, GMT, and Judge...It is matte black like the Holeshot!!!!

Hey, the guy in that pic kind of looks like me. ;) Maybe I could pose as him and steal the watch, HA! :D

Yeah, I'm really thinking of going with the red face version. That's the one that draws me in the most. Still, I'm just kind of throwing the idea around, wanting to avoid any buyers remorse. ;)

Red is my favorite color, and will get a red one at some point.

The Copper they went with is nice, but looks different than the one on the Judge, less flashy it seems.

12 Gauge is a piece of work too. The metal bracelet model is stunning. Its like Oakley's version of a Breitling timepiece.

My 2 cents - I would go with the red. It seems like that is the face you are leaning towards, with just the possible reserve of taking attention away from the ti band design. Personally, I don't think you can take away from the metal band design on the TT. So rock the red.

Yeah, it's definitely more refined than the watches we're used to from Oakley. I would've associated the entire styling as being influenced by JLC than Brietling myself, but it's fairly close to Brietling as well. Either way, it's a classy watch.

OB, you had to chime in with that, and now I can start the second guessing all over again. :D

Nah, I don't have a Time Tank, and I will kick myself if I don't get one. Even if a newer item comes out that I may or may not like, I'll always want to have at least one Time Tank.

(Also, I know this is blasphemous, but, I was never a real huge fan of the Time Bomb's design)

Oogie, how close are you to Seattle? I'm going to be there next weekend for Emerald City Comic-Con, and if there's any chance that you like comics, or pop culture, and you can get there, I'd love to meet up with you and any other O-rev'ers in the area.

I think the 12 Guage is awesome. A more traditional watch design, although the bracelet has that Oakley edge!

Yeah, 12 Gauge is definitely a looker. 2009 should be a gooder for watches, what with all that's planned so far.

IMO, go with the red. Looks great in a suit or with jeans - just the right mix of professional and casual.

Ok, does anyone have any links to pictures of the new 12 gauge and the new time bomb? Also, any rough timeframe on release dates?

Thanks,
