I wrote today my first review on Oakley.com to see how things work.

This led me to this reflexion.

Oakley gloally admits that O-review is an awesome source of information and a wonderful reference.
So why did they do that ? What will be the value of the reviews on O.com ? How much will the review be moderated ?
Will the review be really unbiased ?

One last question:

Will you write O.com reviews and/or will you just continue writing on O-review ?

For my part, the fact that Oakley opened reviews give me more envy to write reviews here (wrote only a few which is a shame). Don't know why ... this might be just to be in contradiction.

I'm sure they get a lot more traffic than this site does. Plus the reviews can be on the same page where the product is ordered, hence more sales.

I think it's standard that a lot of e-retail sites want to adopt. If you're confident that your product will be well reviewed, it becomes a great tool that helps move product as Dann mentioned.

I'm pretty sure Oakley knows they really can't compete with fan sites, though it is a little curious they added a review option in conjuction with the Sub Zero/original SJ/etc. pages. Makes you go "hmmm...". Still I think their idea is just to more more sales rather than take over what the OR has done.

As for me, I'll only put reviews here. I went through the oakley.com reviews yesterday, and I found it to be a pain. You'd have to go through each colourway to see the different reviews. Personally I like how we do reviews for a model instead of colourways. Plus, this is a fansite. You just won't have the same culture on an e-commerce site.

Long live the OR.

Long live OR - agreed - but I am still submitting my Radar Path review. I'm a fan of perfect information, and most people will not find the O-Review. It would be helpful, in general, for people to see reviews on Oakley.com.

LOL. The OR invades oakley.com. I like the idea.

nah, leave them seperate. Last thing we need is the general population descending on these parts.

It would probably be flagged as spam anyways. I'd imagine anything with a link in it will not make it through.

While you can't post reviews anymore, the ones that were up are still viewable. For example:
